Sold the piece of ****, but since it's a friend I told him I'd get it running again, well I replaced the coil (16$, no big deal) and that didn't work, still no spark, OK, on to the next thing control module (50$, bleh) STILL no spark, distributor looked great, all the wires are almost brand new, what the **** is wrong with the POS!?! ANY help would be greatly appreciated, if i can't figure it out, I'll just tow it to his house and it's his problem :(

there is one more piece inside the distributor. the pick up coil. It sends the signal to the ignition module.

Here is an easy test, use a test light, or a meter. Woith the key on the positive side of the coil should have 12v, or test light on. Have someone crank the truck, the negative side should go 12v,0v,12v,etc. or the test light should flash.



no 12v positive side... broken wire, blown fuse,

no 12v negative side... bad pickup coil, broken wire, bad ecu

Thanx much TurboVR6 may try that tomorrow, i also just found out how to check for trouble codes as my Check Engine Soon light is on and won't go away, even after i disconnected battery...

yeah you just jump the correct 2 pins with a wire or paperclip. Just remember that it will flash a code 12 first, then any stored trouble codes. code 12 is normal
