I recently purchased a 1986 RX7. I have experienced what I would call "a stumble" in the performance of the engine and would like someone that may have experienced the same problem to let me know were I should start looking in order to correct the problem. The following is a short discussion on what has happened with my car. Driving at about 50 mph, the car will loose power and the engine will cycle. The cycle is runs from 100 rpm to 1500 rpm with no power to the drive line. If I hold the throttle down, the cycle does not change and it smells like the fuel is not being burned properly. This cycling seems to only happen if the car has not warmed up properly. If the car is warmed up and been running for sometime, every once in a while it seems that there is a hesitation in the power, almost as if the fuel isn't being burned for maybe a few combustion cycles. I am a new owner and want to start getting into restoring this car. It is in good physical shape but the combustion problem is worrysome. Any ideas form anyone?

Sounds like you have an issue with spark... question being what. Bad plugs, wires, coils, dist cap/rotor. Maybe computer? I'm sure there are a number of people with better input than mine... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif
