Apparently, this kid had a POS short throw shifter that caused a couple mis-shifts. I bet he doesn't let that happen again.

Now I see why some people like the tall boy shifter mod lol.

rfreeman27 11-07-2003 03:24 PM

LOL

I dont know if there are cops coming or not!

MazdaMike 11-07-2003 03:25 PM

they didnt know if cops were gonna come so they ran i dont think they were running fron the cops. why wouldnt he just get back on the clutch after feeling the engine rev up id think it would be just instinct

UniqueTII 11-07-2003 03:27 PM

I did a 3-2 mis-shift in my Subaru last week (I'd say there are sloppy shifter bushings on there, but that would mean there were any at all) and I got right back on the clutch without even thinking of it. I was shifting hard, too, so he doesn't have that excuse. Inexperience is his only out...well, or stupidity.

defprun 11-07-2003 03:29 PM

The car sounded weird afterwards...like a weedwacker! Before it had a nice electric lawnmower sound to it...

j9fd3s 11-07-2003 03:37 PM

I did that the first day I got my GXL. The bushings are really worn, and I was not used to shifting. I did fine for a while on the first day, then while I was going fast and winding out each gear I went into second. I didn't even let the clutch out all the way before I pushed it back in and yelled "WAAAH! NO!". Revs didn't go anywhere. Hasn't happened to me since.

particleeffect 11-07-2003 08:29 PM

it's not that he particularly sucked, it's that when he locked the drive wheels on his wrong wheel drive car, he couldnt steer.

1Revvin7 11-07-2003 09:11 PM

haha dumbass.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

Dumbrotorkid 11-07-2003 09:14 PM

like phins said. had to be the first accident.heh. at least they didnt kill themselves

turborotor 11-07-2003 10:08 PM

Rookie 16 year old driver most likely. Dumping the clutch and upshifting instead of downshifting probably cause the drive wheels to lock up. Adding his bad driving skills since he was all over the place when shifting made it worse when he lost it. Always keep both hand on the wheel kiddies...

Sorry to say but that is funny cause is happen to me on a field when i just got my license, except I had automatic and it was snowing, lol. Too bad i didnt' have a camera at the time. Me and my friend were stuck in big ass salt water mud. LOL

ROFLMFAO, true that.

yeah it's instinct that should get your foot back on the clutch. What a bunch of babies.

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png He is trying to blame it on the shifter, Maybe his pep boys add on pedals got in the way! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif

spiney360 11-08-2003 02:44 AM

i have done this sorta incadent twice once racing my freinds integra i whent from 2nd to 1st but got the clutch in before it hit 8500 rpms(i think) shot out a good cloud of smoke, then going to pass some old granpa whent from third to second and once agian shot a nice could of smoke but never this bad that **** is funny https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

relisys190 11-08-2003 03:03 AM

How does this sort of thing happen.. I dont even think it will let me go into 2nd at that speed. unless i FORCE it in.

Plus the fact that his car is wrong wheel drive... they locked up.. and he couldnt steer.

"DUMBASS"

TyresmokinRx7 11-08-2003 07:11 AM

I've only done that once and I went from 2nd to 5th, but that's not as bad as what that guy did.

teknics 11-08-2003 08:04 AM

LMAO, his ricemobile has a "baby on board" suction thingy.

and its got four doors.

and it's got different size, tread, tread stickiness, tires on the front and back.

and he broke his shifter, then rethreaded it.

and its crap.

what a good race car.

kevin.

MazdaMike 11-08-2003 08:37 AM

what a moron flipping through the threads i found his post explaining to all the uninformed members exactly what heppened making his car lose control:

"okay guys, i found out what REALLY happend.

U know how theres a max MPH u get in each gear? Well when u redline one gear (3rd in my case) and i accidentally downshifted into second (cheap short shifter that failed me many times, but its still driver error) the MPH my car was already at was wayy higher then a MAX MPH for 2nd gear, so when u downshift, the motor in a way "Brakes" your front tires, sorta like how ur cruising and u can downshift to slow ur car down instead of pressing the brakes.

So therefore, redlining 3rd gear, maxing out 3rd gears MAX MPH. Then downshifting into second, my motor would bring my front tires to the MAX MPH of second gear, so slowing down tire rotation regardless of my current vehicle speed, causing me to break traction and spin out of control... "

wow is this a honda forum thing or is this guy just dumb, i cant belive there are people like this racing when they dont even know what the hells going on with their car

Jeff20B 11-08-2003 02:16 PM

I'm reminded of the B sharps barber shop quartet on the Simpsons. Baby on Board. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Max HP in 3rd gear eh? I guess hondas with 100 more hp than his car always have the same problem as he does, since having more hp would mean youd hit the MAX HP in less time!? I guess my friend with his H22 swap civic si is on his like 4th engine already because of it!

OMG I REACHED MAX HP!!! OMG!!!
