Holy ****, I got to fly a $3.5 million helicopter today. It was the coolest thing I have EVER done. Im at a loss for words to describe it. It was unbelievable. Flying at nearly 140 mph 75 feet off the ground is nuts. My dad was a helicopter pilot in the army, but I was still young when he retired 9 years ago. He used to fly that fast 15 feet off the ground. Now that is nuts. This was by far the coolest thing I have ever done!
Heres some pics. http://home.sprintmail.com/~dja4near/helicopter/002.jpg http://home.sprintmail.com/~dja4near/helicopter/003.jpg http://home.sprintmail.com/~dja4near/helicopter/004.jpg Damn, I had such an awesome time today. I will be getting to fly it again in a few days, I cant wait! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |

It was awesome. I cant wait until friday! I pick up my 89 TII in the morning, and get to fly that again in the evening https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
I don tknow if anyone here has ever been in a helicopter, but the feeling is so awesome. Talk about total freedom. Taking off is so cool. Just seeing the helicopter tilt 60 degrees forward, and climb and accelerate at the same time is unbelievable. |
have you seen the 13b powered helecopter on eBay?

Im trying to talk my dad into trading his plane for a Rotorway Exec 162(the one that ebay one is based on).

Did you actually fly it, or did you fly "in" it? I'm probably heading off to Army flight school so I was just curious if you fly.

btw, 140 is a lot different on a road than flying over marshes, rivers, and the barrier islands. |
You need to try a max effort takeoff in a c-130 with JATO bottles. Jato = jet assisted takeoff. It's pretty cool. The damn thing is off the ground in 500 feet or less. It climbs to 500 feet AGL in less than 5 seconds. AGL= above ground level. The Blue Angels have a c-130 that does this all the time for thier shows. Its called "Fat Albert".
