No..... clear your cache file and history, restart internet explorer. The problem will go away.

Sinful7 01-22-2003 02:19 PM

yes

EDIT: in most instances. Some may require that you go to the Internet Tools>Advanced menu and uncheck "Do not allow encrypted pages to be saved to the disk".

does that work for art files too. a lot of porn on the internet it .art. and i find that really annoying

moxeysrx7@aol.com 01-22-2003 05:04 PM

i think .art is an aol only file. does anyone know how to stop AOL form saving them as .art files?

Sinful7 01-22-2003 05:37 PM

".art" is an AOL-only image compressed file. The easiest way aroung it is to use another browser, be it I.E. or Netscape. You can start AOL and connect, then just minimize the entire application, and open your other browser. It's all the same thing. You just want to use the AOL application for internet access, not browsing.

To turn off AOL's compression, click "Settings" (or "My AOL" in earlier versions) in the menu bar, then select "Preferences." Click "WWW." Select the "Web Graphics" tab. Select "Never Compress Graphics" (or uncheck "Use Compressed Graphics" in earlier versions).

You should also clear your temporary internet files, so that recently visited pages do not use cached .art files when loading. To do this, click "My AOL" or "Settings" in the menu bar, then select "Preferences." Click "WWW." On the "General" tab, under "Temporary Internet Files," click "Delete Files." Check "Delete All Offline Content" (varies in earlier versions). Click "OK."

I take it this worked?

ThirdGenRX7 01-22-2003 05:47 PM

that would be a correct assumption

teknics 01-22-2003 09:54 PM

just to make sure im thinking of the correct thing how do i clear the cache or are you just using it as another term for internet history/ temp files?
