Nice Link Captain..
now thats pretty crazy.
Holy crap...
Just think if that threw a rod......probally sick the ship
LOL
I have to admire the craftsmanship, It comes turbocharged, the only way to go with a desile. man, this word checker sux.
that would make a pretty damn fast golf cart
No it would make a very LARGE golf cart LOL
did it say what it was used to power? submarine? ford f-950?
its for cargo ships. large sea vessels.
That thing could rape a T88 LOL
Old one, but a good one
Only 108,920 hp at 102 rpm and 5,608,312 lb/ft at 102rpm? That's freaking weak. If it made the same hp/liter as a '02 FD it'd make about 5,400,000 hp. Who designed this thing? GM? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png
It's not making the same HP per litre because it only runs at 102 RPM! Remember HP = (torque*RPM)/5252. If we could rev it up to 5252 RPMs, assuming that it held the same torque number it'd make... 5,608,312 hp. For the 14 cylinder version at 25,480 liters that would be 220 hp per liter. GM doesn't come close to that.
if you could rev it up to 5252 rpm, it would probably suck up anything and everything not bolted down, within a 20 mile radius
Imagine the noise that puppy would make at that speed.

"if an incredibly large diesel engine, at 5252 rpm, deafens everyone around, does it make a sound?" |
Well... hell.. I was ignoring the fact that to get a stroke of 98" to spin to 5252 RPMs the piston would have to be moving somewhere around 10% of the speed of light.
That ain't happenin' any time soon. |
and it really isn't that fast....the power to weight ratio for the engine alone is 2tons to 1hp.....SLOW
it would run about a 99.89 sec quarter mile....hehehehe |
I can already see Bond trapped in one of the cylinders in the next Pierce Brosnan flick.
The old mine sweeping ships in WWII were powered by a giant Packard disel (no I'm not kidding) They would roll out the main bearings by putting a guy in the oil pan and sliding him under the engine.
The screws to drive the propopeller were so big and expensive the navy had to rent them |
Wow, that sweet. quiet the engineering feat..
a 99.89 sec quarter!? must be a Ford design!
wow i didnt realize how much it weighed......
i wanna live in one. |
