I need new axles and knuckles for mine :(

Midnightdriver 12-16-2003 12:55 PM

that looks fun. how much does it run to get something like that going? I used to do the electric ones but I'd like to build one of those supra or skyline RC cars..Cost please.

turbovr6 12-16-2003 02:48 PM

I can tell you from many years of R/C experience, that all that jazz does nothing substantial for power. The supercharger has been around for over a year now, and no one has had any realy HP gains, that could not be made by other mods for 1/2 the price. As far as the intercooler goes, yeah it looks cool, but has little effect on performance. I would imagine pressure drop with all that piping would be horrible.

Remember it's a .12-.27 2 stroke engine. you take a 6 pound car and put in a 2-3 hp engine that is plenty to get that thing to haul ass.

You can buy a complete "ready to run" nitro powered r/c car kit for around $300-350

Oh and from my other thread I think I have come up with the ultimate drift tires!!!! I'll post more when testing is complete!

UniqueTII 12-16-2003 02:58 PM

Hmmm...that supercharger company is from Syracuse. I wonder if I could get a look at their stuff if I go to Walt's.

I am not sure what the setup costs as im not really into R/C cars. The site was forwarded to me by a friend and I thought it was cool. Even if the I/C and Supercharger dont do anything I still think its phat ass hell to show off.

1Revvin7 12-16-2003 05:59 PM

Wow, thats sweet.

Leetheslacker 12-16-2003 06:23 PM

Someone should take a electric motor dyno and fab it into a dyno for whp or watts or whatever.

helihansen 12-16-2003 06:43 PM

Thats it Next event we have im buying an R/C and we are running em. Ive had it its time to put the nitro in action! Race what ya bring!

turbovr6 12-16-2003 06:46 PM

The dyno was special made for a customer. they can make more, the problem is it is a REAL dyno company, so if you want the r/c dyno you have to buy the $10k software to run it! Trust me, spoke with them on the phone a year ago when I found that picture

turbovr6 12-16-2003 06:57 PM

team associated complete kit, only need to buy fuel and 12aa batteries $290

AE

HPI same as above

$350

both are excellent cars, great quality, and parts are easy to get for them. stay away from other brands, trust me!

The key to owning one and having it last is maintenance. Break in the engine as the manual says, and squirt a drop or 2 of marvel mystery oil in the engine at the end of each day. do this and the engine will last forever

I've had good experience with kyosho and team losi also. Associated has always been a decent company, I've owned 5 vehicles from them.

one thing, if you work mostly on 1/1 scale cars and are new to r/c's, you might want to look into the slightly larger scale cars like 1/8 scale gas buggies. The design and material quality increases greatly, everything is significantly larger, stronger, heavier (and more expensive...) but it's alot easier to work on and abuse without having frustrating stupid breakages.

case in point:

1/8 scale gas buggy jumps over garage

That car appears to be a kyosho inferno. my coworker has a 1/10 scale rc10t he jumps in the cubicle farm over here all the time, he breaks suspension pieces after jumpg a fraction of that height. If you like to abuse em, you'll appreciate the more durable 1/8 scale vehicles. I've got a mugen mbx 4 1/8 scale gas buggy and I was sore after putting it together as if I had been working on my real car all day, it's nutty.

Leetheslacker 12-16-2003 07:20 PM

Hes probably breakign A-arms from running into cube walls...

Ive beat on my xxt hard and its fine.

true 1/8 scale buggies are more user friendly, but they are a bit expensive

Also I think most people here would be more into a touring car, just becouse of the bodies available, and accesories.

Wanna race, I'll pull out my super secret kit.

Yes...real, functional RC nitrous !!!!

he breaks ball cups and tie rods, i'm sure cube walls play a role, but most of the time he's jumping over them not running into them.

he also broke a motor (shattered the magnets) when it landed on it's ass end once. The ground in the office isnt exactly soft, and the motor is hanging off the back of the thing. I don't understand why those rc's don't come with bump stops stock. If you simply follow the instructions of the kit you end up with a chassis that smacks the ground after high jumps, you've gotta find some fuel tubing and put it over the shaft of the shocks to keep from slamming the chassis.

Leetheslacker 12-16-2003 07:36 PM

Must be one brittle truck.

Ive put a 5ft+ board on a standing up garbage can and jumped onto concrete. Smacked the ass every time, didnt break a thing. Just scratched the rear skidplate some.

well the time it shattered the magnets the truck landed vertically right on it's ass... it bent in the aluminum skidplate thing and shocked the motor enough to bust the magnet *shrug*

afterwards motor started smoking and it didnt want to go anywhere, made the place stink https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

You should try having a ESC catch fire in a small room.

Smells like burning plastic for a week. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png
