So hockey gets pushed a little more out of the mainstream...

Outdoor Life Network?? This is the only major sport series that CAN'T be played outside! At least they could move basketball to the summer and play it outdoors, but hockey can't be played outside at the professional level. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

Sure it can. Did you not watch the oilers game two winters ago ? It was outdoors! lease don't tell me your not a real canadian but an american pretending to be a canadian. If you were true canadian you would not say anything bad about hockey no matter what...

The players can only blame themselves, no network is going to pick up the NHL at this point, there's a legitimate concern that it won't be here next year.

Player strikes put a dent in MLB baseball attendance and it's something that had a strong foothold, NHL doesn't. This strike will hurt the NHL for years to come, assuming they survive.

They burned themselves on the larger networks until they can prove they are gonna be around and people are going to give a ****.

I love hockey, in fact it's the only sport I pay any attention at all too, but at this point in time I would rather watch an amateur game then a pro.

You can't seriously believe even the Leafs could sell out 40 games a year outdoors? Southern Ontario people think -10 is cold https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif

Actually the Oilers and Flames probably could, even though it's much colder there.

I've played hockey in -40. It's not fun.

There was very little viewers before, I doubt the strike would actually be the death of the TV ratings in the US. Hockey on TV in the US has been a pretty big joke for a long time.

There's something about watching hockey on CBC that seems so right, even the other Canadian networks can't touch it.

I love watching the American sports whenever they come on telly - I'd pick American football over rugby anyday - there's more strategy and skill involved even if you do wear those poncy pads and spandex. Baseball and ice-hockey are opposites for me - playing baseball is good craic especially fielding, but it's hard to watch - Ice hockey is great to watch but I don't know if I'd play it over regular hockey.
