Hi all.....im looking to get a fd but i would like to know if there are any tips on how to look for a blown motor....i mean before i drop my "hard earned tuition money" on a rx7.....i want to make sure that it will be worth it.....also does anyone know how much it cost to replace the motor, and any good shops in the bay area, ca? thx

Do a compression test before you buy one. Engines run from $2500 for a rebuild to $7k for a new one. Do alot of research and studying before buying.

But! If I were you I wouldnt buy an FD if I only had enough money for the car. Make sure you have a couple G's left over for reliability parts and things that will occur when you least expect it....

Also...Welcome to NP!

A remaned motor will run you about 2k.

Install from a compitent shop will run you another 2k

There are lots of shops in cali that can help you.

Check the regional forums.
