haha. i just wanted to see how many of you would read this and go WTF IS THIS GUY TALKING ABOUT??? heres the story... we were hangin out in the parking lot when this kid rolls up in a beat up rx7 that had a nasty exhuast leak that sounded like crap and 2 huuuge like 5 inch exhuast tips sticking out the back and all kinds of neon lights and **** everywhere... so he comes over to me and my buddy who both have fc's and hes like "hey, man i noticed you guys have rx7's, can you help me out..." so i was like "uh yeah man what you need?", so he goes to pop the hood and opens it and is like "i wanna make this thing go faster and i saw online about how people put cams and lifter and valves and stuff in there cars to make them go faster, but i cant find the cylender heads on the engine"... i was shocked... i didnt know what to say. my buddy just started to bust out laughing. so after a few seconds of laughing i was like... (no joke) "dude, its gonna be hard to get to cuase the way they make these engines... they put the cylender heads on the bottom of the engine so you have to take the engine out" and i shined my cell phone light down to the oil pan and was like "yeah see that? thats the cylender head right there" and he was like "aw cool man aliright thanks dude" so i was hoping this dumbass kid would leave but he just kept following us around and **** talking about what he was going to do with his car... anyway... i just thought it was funny as hell and had to post it

oh and yes i finally told the kid there was no cylinder heads on the car and explained to the poor boy how his engine worked...

Wow! Some people ehh? But there are people out there that will say things like that. One kid at college (that was in the automotive tech. dept.) asked me how many cylinders my car had. I turned and laughed at my girlfriend as I said one. He looked at me like I had two heads. It was pretty funny.

What's worse, is when people think "Rotary" is some TYPE of piston engine...



I've been asked if "Rotary" was Mazda's version of HEMI, Mazda's version of VTEC, all sorts of crazy stuff.

Alot of people think that. Ive gotten laughed at when I said my engine has no pistons.



But im often amazed by peoples ignorance.

i like to say that they have 2 pistons. they are like, "what the ****, are you serious?"

LMAO! I told my friend i wanted an RX7 and was looking for a 3rd gen eventually and he said "oh like that one on fast and the furious?" "yes!" "Wow I heard those are like lamborghinis, they have like 12 cylinders but the engines are REALLY small so they rev REALLY high!" "Yeah.... something like that but not so much...."

Quite the opposite happend in the office this week:



We have a new front desk/secretary, she's this 40 year old woman that drive a Silver Automatic Rx-8. I told her about my Rx-7 and she's like "Yea, that's the older Rotary car, right?" Oooh... an Auto RX-8... that will be a fun drive. =/

i like to explain to honda ricers how mazda invented the first "vtec" type engine system with the 6-port actuation system.

I was on my way to work a couple of days ago when i noticed a young guy following behind who had a older passenger (maybe his dad). I noticed he was trying to explain to his older passenger using a circular and up and down motion the difference between a piston and a rotary engine.



Quite funny how alot of people don't know how they work. I know when i first heard of them it took me a while to get my head around it.

no that kid was serious about the whole cam and lifters thing... we were amazed... but i explaned to him how one worked... and i also told him he needed to take that stupid racing stripe off his car... he had a red racing strip that was offset to the passenger side that wend over the lengh of the car... pitiful sight. but yeah i have alot of buddies with civic si's or other hondas/acuras with vtec... and i explain to them all the time about the 5th/6th port valves or auxilory valves and the secondary injectors that have a similar effect to the retarded timing on vtecs... there just like "yeah whatever". stupid honda boys and their front wheel drives...

well, if your FC had a v8 swap, it'd be valid

Ive had people think that a rotary engine was like a radial engine like the engines in WW2 planes.



I like to tell people that my car has 13 pistons, but not that they're in the brakes and clutch.
