Okay, its been over 6 months since my Dad died, but I'm still having trouble putting the past behind me. I was cleaning out my inbox and found an email sent to me by my Uncle Greg, of some photos taken by the Sands Springs police department. Its very hard on me, and I would like to think maybe someday I can get better at this, but I'd value each of your opinions. Honestly, guys, this **** tears me up inside.

It's going to keep tearing you up for a while. My big brother died in 96, and it still chokes me up sometimes. What I did, that helped me cope, is every time I thought about his death, I would start thinking about good times that we'd had together. Turn the pain of his loss into the admiration of what he was.

Don't try to get over it quickly. Take as much time as you need. Rushing it only hurts you. Another thing I did was try to have something good come of it. When my brother died, I was going down the wrong path. After, I decided his death wouldn't be in vain. I turned my life around for him and for my father.

This isn't something you can just forget about, but try to keep good memories in your head, instead of the bad ones.

6 months to get over your dad? No, I wouldn't expect that of anyone who had a close relationship with their father. My grandpa died in 1984 and I can still get choked up about him once in awhile.

I would be inclined however to get those pictures and what not out of sight for awhile.

As far as grief councelors go, I'm leery of them personally.

...Grieve if you will, but not for long upon my soul's sweet flight.

I am at peace, my soul's at rest, there is no need for tears.

For with your love I was so blessed for all these many years.

There is no pain, I suffer not, the fear now all is gone.

Put now these things out of your thoughts, in your memory I live on.

Remember not my fight for breath, remember not the strife.

Please do not dwell upon my death, but celebrate my life.
