On the week of the 24th, I'll be driving to Minnesota with my wife and son, to visit my brother and his gf. The only trips I've taken (that I remember) were to Tennessee, many many times (8 hour trip). This 20 hour drive is going to blow my mind. We're going to drive at night so my son will sleep. And seeing the different landscape is going to be really confusing, because I'm used to the boring wasteland of Georgia, then the mountains. I've never been anywhere but the southeast, I've never spent time in a big city (like minneapolis), and I'm honestly a little frightened by the whole thing. I've really become attached to home.
Anyways, to all you MN guys, I'm looking forward to seeing your home state in a couple weeks! |
Have fun on your trip!
I dont know why, but this reminds me of this guy I got a ride with once. He's this old dude from some czech country that doesnt exist anymore or something. Anyway, the guy travels up north, it's a pretty long drive, however, at one point during the drive theres a sign just before a certain stretch of highway that says: No Fuel for 300 miles. And than from there on in, all there is, is a two lane highway and you better know what you are doing. Because there is NOTHING up there. That's a ****** roadtrip! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif |

If I went to NYC, I'd probably **** a brick. I can't even fathom what buildings that large would look like in person.

I love showing people things like Movies (That are good..), Games, the City, parks and places... Yea, I live among those good views you see on the way down to the city. If you take an MTA Train from any town, you see a nice small down with developments and a river....then 30-90 minutes later and through a tunnel...and BAM...Big city. I <3 NY. |
I wanna see a desert wasteland...like west texas.
|
BALDY! where abouts are you staying at? maybe we can hook up and chill a while.

Baldy - Go to NYC it is amazing. We go every July (except last year) and have seen so much. After 4 years of going for 5 days a trip I have not even scratched the surface of the city.
I never rent a car I always use mass transit there. Busses, Taxi's Subways, Trains.. they all make up what is New York. I love the Subways I love the energy of NYC. Its crazy, after I leave I feel like I am missing something for a few days afterwards. We stay with a great Aunt who owns a 8 unit brownstone in the Park Slope Section of Brooklyn. We were on top of the World Trade Center in July of 2001 2 months before it was destroyed. I always look at those pictures we hove from that day and feel like something was taken away from me. I told my 10 y/o son he did something most 10 y/o kids will never do. Visit the top of a famous building that does not exist anymore. He has been up on the Empire State building and we hope to go to the Statue of Liberty one day. He has walked the halls of the Museum of Natural History the paths of the Bronx Zoo. I cannot wait to go again we hope to explore more of Brooklyn this time up. One thing I have to say about the Rotary Revolution was that it introduced me to a City I never would have considered going to. Downtown Indy looked very interesting. We are hoping to go back next year for the Formula 1 race and stay a few days and explore. Tell us how the twin cities are take lots of pictures. If you see prince tell him I said Hi!. LOL!! Have fun!! Its a blast going to different places. |

So far we have no real plans for while we're up there. If you guys want to get together, just go ahead and do that, and let me know when and where. If I can go, that'd be cool; if not, then you guys still have a good time. win win!

certainly somethin to cherish as your son wont comprehend till his later years.. still maintain my paraphanelia of welcome documents and gifts when it was reopened.. regardless of all the issues banzai has pointed out.. nyc still imho.. holds a mystique |
But I base my Opinion on NY and NYC after living there. I dont like crowds. NYC is not the place to be. Sure you can get GOOD chineese food deliveres at 3 AM in the upper east side, but why have to worry about your life walking down the street

pending on the time frame you resided banzai.. id say the environment is not what is used to be years back... |
Rudolph changed that city so much. Times square is actually a safe place to walk around now at night. The subways are safe now too even at night.
NYC isnt to big there is so much to do there so much to see it will take me years if visiting, I dont think I will ever get tired of it. NYC seems small when your on a subway car and lissed your transfer. Next thing you know your out of Manhatten and in Brooklyn or Bronx. LOL! Would I live there? No I love it here in Florida. But its one of my favorite places to visit. |
