So yea I took my boat into this dude and did a pretty good number on it, I took some pics made a post in a local forum with pics to back up everything I posted and now the guy says he is going to sue me for liable.



Seeing as I have images of every claim I made I don't think he'll get to far, but would be pretty amazing if I get my boat fucked up, pay for the guy to do so then get sued LOL

If you've got the proof that he did exactly what you say he did through pictures, it'll be open and shut if it's even allowed to go to court. It's not lible unless it's untrue.

I didn't say anything that wasn;t true, I stated the facts, I posted the pics to back up each fact I honestly don't see how the guy could prove it. Plus as far as I can tell it's pretty hard to win a case for liable, you've got to prove damages and you've got to prove that lied, which I didn't do so I really don't see how he can do a damn thing.



I even posted the proof in the forum with every issue. Seems to me it would be pretty hard to sue someone over something said on a forum anyhow, I mean, say someone logged in with my id, started saying some ****, would seem hard to even prove it was me. Not that I have an issue with saying it was in fact me, the guy ******* screwed me.

If you've got pictures of the boat beforehand in the same spots where damage was pictured (especially if there's a way to prove the date) I know it would help. However, starting a lawsuit from an internet claim is (from what I've seen) near damn impossible, so unless they call you up and approach in person, you don't have much to worry about. However, you suing them for a crappy job is very feasible.

He's been calling me non stop for 2 days to argue.



I don't think I have any before pics though, not of those sections, lol I didn't know they were going to be fucked up!

So how exactly were his threats made? Was it a "I'm going to get a lawyer and sue you for libel/slander!" or was it a call made from a law office where you spoke to a lawyer?

But in all honesty, everything on the internet is hard to prove in court, especially since i think courts still cant dictate the actual material on the internet.....yet.

That's what I'm talking about. There's no way to get a fair trial out of it since there's so many circumstances that could be involved. For example: I may get a subpoena because an idiot friend of mine made slandering comments using my online persona. Since there's no way to prove that it was actually me doing it, a fair trial cannot be had so it will not be a case allowed in court.

I said look man if you keep calling me and threatening me and hollering on my voicemail I am going to have to hire a lawyer which I am really not in the mood to do as I just want to put this behind me.



He told me he was going to sue me for liable due to the things I posted on the forum, I asked him what I posted that wasnt true and he just flew off the handle.

he doesnt know what libel is, for anything to be libel it first has to be a lie.

Oh, in that case, I really wouldn't worry about it. 1. It was on the internet, 2. Everything that was said is true (and I believe you have witnesses to attest to it,) 3. He hasn't already sought out a lawyer. If you do get a call from a lawyer, it would have to be a Lionel Hutz type to even take the case.

Too bad youre not in NJ, i have a great lawyer.

I finished up pretty much everything but the cosmetic stuff today, putting it in the water tomorrow, I heading to the keys in two weeks for 10 days, gonna slay a lot of fish and burn a lot of gas!!! It will definetely be ready when you get down in march.

How big of a boat is it? We had a family friend, millionaire but a frivolous spender, who had some awesome fishing boat but he traded it in for a cigarette boat. The fishing boat had all brand new electronics from whatever company has "ray" in their name i dont remember at this moment. it was cool. If I was you I would hire a surveyor to sound out the bottom and do moisture readings, most of the time the factory cannot do quality repairs, often they send it out
