.... wen't BOOOOM!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif
$3,800 later... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png I found out that the person who rebuilt the motor before I bought it did a **** job on it. Probably the reason the guy was selling it... My motor was never right to begin with. Luckily I'm getting a practically new motor with hurley seals, a monster street port, and the non-sequential conversion. Going to have him throw in some upgraded injectors as well. I went for a ride in the shop car and it was very impressive. The car ran very smooth and it accelerated like a bat out of hell. It's too bad I had to spend the money, but I'm excited about how my motor will run when it's done. Oh well, at least I beat my friend's 430whp Supra before it blew. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/happy.png |
damn that really sux sorry to hear that but good luck with the new mod's
|
did you have a chance to call jr? I guess you did a compression check?
If that' the case sorry to hear it, since your into computers and such I recommend you get some type of aftermarket ecu and learn how to work the software thoroughly. There are a lot of tricks to tuning to save yourself an engine in the presence of a boost spike or running hot, that the stock ecu would freak out and do nothing. For instance jims 30 psi spike and the engine lasted another 6 months before jim decided to rebuild it, or my wastgate that hasn't worked right since I installed my turbo, but I haven't blown my motor because I'm tuned for a lot higher boost than what my boost controller is set at. if your wanting to go big power reliably an ecu is a must. |
Yea I know... I had the Pettit ECU and my car was just about as close to stock boost as possible. The car itself wasn't rebuilt correctly when I bought it, which helps explain the over heating problem even though I have the Fluidyne, excessive smoking, etc. Oh well, when I get it back it'll be running much nicer and much faster.

That sucks, same thing happened to me penis last week.
|
Sorry to hear that, something didn't sound right on that motor to me, but I'd never mention it cause i don't wanna jinx lol
|
I knew something wasn't right... I was just hoping it would last longer than it did.

hmm what better way to break in a motor than a trip up north...plenty of rotorheads along the way too.

I'd love to take a road trip if I didn't have work... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png

LATEST UPDATE:
Upon further inspection of my blown motor... A barely half-assed port job and 2mm apex seals were found!! What the hell?! Either the guy that did the work on the motor lied to the guy I bought it from, or the guy I bought it from lied to me... I got hosed. |
damn.....sorry to hear.
|
Nah it's all good. I'm really excited to see how my motor will be running when I get it back. Things can only get better from here.
|
I'd rather have 2mm seals than 3.
Good Luck |
