is an 11/16th a 17mm? or close to it? im buying one of those tools for a stipped bolt and it has a 19mm and an 11/16th but the stripped bolt is a 17. am i making any sense?

yes very close. 10mm=3/8 12mm=7/16 13mm=1/2

Convert fraction to decimal...

Multiply by 25.4



11 divide by 16 = 0.6875"

0.6875" x 25.4 = 17.4625mm
