It's weird...the more I look at the 3rd Gen the better it looks to me. Don't get me wrong...I always thought it was a good looking car. But I really think the styling was ahead of it's time. I always get asked what car I'm in and if I bought it new. Not only that but I think there are few cars that take so well to modest stying enhancements as the 3rd Gen RX-7. Not to mention the coolness of blowing the doors off almost anything under $100k and it's a great date maker! :O) https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

My 2nd gen grew on me too. But yeah... The 3rd gen is ten years old and still looks sexy as hell. Props tp mazda for that design.

George, we all agree but this is all old news to most of us.

I have had a 3rd gen in my possession since 99.

I am gonna move this to the Gen D,

This could be true for anyones car.

CourageOO7 01-16-2004 12:28 PM

just delete it...it was stupid. I'm a fresh owner of only 6 mos...

Fd3BOOST 01-16-2004 12:57 PM

No, we don't delet threads here.. Its not stupid. It was juts in the wrong area.

There is nothing stupid about loving the way your car looks.

I leave that way of thinking to my wife.

the thing i found out about this car, FD, and my old FB, is that from every "new" angle that u look at it, it will look damn good.

I used to dislike the 2nd gen body style. Then one day, while looking at cars, I saw one in a new light. I've been in love with the shape ever since. A few months later, I bought one. Aww dammit, now I wanna go give my car a hug.

FBs have been growing on me ever since I've seen Manntis' old immaculate low mile 1st gen before he was struck.

PhoenixDownVII 01-16-2004 02:57 PM

I'm surprised people don't feel the FD is outdated because of the pop-up lights...

...something I've grown to love now...Orignially planned on Glass-Headlighting any Pop-Up car I get...but I love the way it looks even with them up!

As far as looking like a "new" car, it most certainly has the best curves to boast. Too bad cars nowadays are getting "Simpler" and "Stupider". Anyone see the show "Ride" Or "Drive" or whatever on TLC about the new Shelby Cobra? I can't believe the guys thought that bubbly-ugly POS design looked GOOD?! The whole new wave of "Simpler is better" is really getting old fast,....

Something I really take note of and love is the absense of door handles along the body of the car. I love it's location, and the shape of the doors (when opened especially) looks great.

Aside from that, I've always told my friends that the lines/curves make it look like tightly wrapped muscle. Wasting no space with just more "Metal" or fender...and simple wrapping tight the important parts of the car (engine/hood, tires, YOU). Everything is just "taught" and like a Bruce lee type of quick/strong in a smaller package...

There are very few "weird" angles on the car and its only when people take wierd shots of em.

Overall, INCLUDING the Interior (BEST I"VE EVER SEEN!)...I really, honestly feel it is one of THE best looking cars to date...and that includes the Exotics...
