DAMMIT!!!! I am going to get on my SAFETY SOAPBOX AGAIN!!!!

Guys, (and gals) we want you around in 1 piece for a long time. I am not perfect and have suffurred my share of accidents. So I can speak from the voice of EXPERIENCE.

1. SAFETY GLASSES: ALWAYS wear them!!!!. Keep a couple pair around for visitors

2. Gloves: Wear them, and wear the proper glove for the job

3. Fire Extinguisher. Have one in the garage/shop/work area. Check the charge monthly

4. EYE WASH, Have a qt bottle at a minimum, Check the exporation Date

5. First Aid kit. Very handy

6. Poison Control Number, post it by your phone or near the chem storage area

7. Oiley Rags, keep in a covered metal can

8. Jack Stands, not a place to save a buck. buy quality and use them

9. Batteries: Disconnect before working on your car

10. Gasoline: Store SMALL quantity's only, never use as a cleaning fluid.

I have more I'll post later. be safe!

diesel is a much better degreaser than gas. and its alot safer too because it burns about as fast as a block of wood.

as for safety goggles, i never used to wear those untill one day i was grinding on my hood and a piece of metal shot up into my eye and i had to pull it out with a tweezers. now i wear safty glasses....

same thing happened to me finishing up a cut on some SS braided hose with a cutoff wheel.

funny thing is I was wearing glasses most the time, just took them off thinking the cut was done but there was one strand still connected, what are the odds that short cut would have flung **** into my eye.

same ****, tweezers, all is good now... and everyone wanted me to go to the emergency room to have a stainless steel sliver removed from my eye... riiight.
