Officials at Palo Alto's Gamble Garden are pleading for the return of a fountain in the shape of a frog and lily pad that went missing one week ago. The fountain was given by a donor in memory of a 4-year-old boy who loved the garden, Executive Director Vanessa Roach wrote in an e-mail to neighbors. "The frog is very special to our staff, members and visitors, both young and young-at-heart," she wrote. "If anyone knows anything, please call. Or please leave him on our front steps, no questions asked." Elizabeth F. Gamble Garden is a 2.5-acre estate on Waverley Street run by a nonprofit community horticultural society. we're sorta suspecting one of the high school kids, who else would steal a brass fountain? |

With the price of copper being what it is, somebody's going to sell it to the scrap man for beer money.
