I just purchased a 1981 first gen. after many years of wanting anything rotary (played with too many V-8's). Anyways, i since i live about 30 minutes from KD, i was wondering if anyone had any good bad experiences with them. Thanks

they are good, but where do you live? what are you looking to get done?

FCmaniac 11-10-2002 12:55 PM

I'm about 20 minutes from them. I've only heard of one guy who had problems with their tuning but as far as work goes, everyone seems very happy with their engine building, mods, everything else.

I'm not happy with them, but I think my problem was an isolated incident, and I would still recommend going to them. Dave always stands by his work.

KDR has a very good reputation. I talk to Dave for a quick minute one time, and it was a pleasure.

well my car is there currently https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

i've called KD a couple of times, and Dave is always more than happy to answer all of my questions and actually cares about helping, even though he's never done any work to my car.

Back in the day when I had to rebuild my motor I called several shops including KDR. I talked to Dave and he answered all my stupid newbie questions very nicely. I have heard nothing but good things about him.

Only heard that he pops motors on the dyno due to lack of tunning skills.

how long has it been there?

i went there a bunch of times with vosko and there were always about 25-40 rx7's littering the "front lawn" of his shop. he's not fast to say the least...

ThirdGenRX7 11-11-2002 06:59 AM

it's been there for awhile, but it's not any fault of his... i'm waiting on parts

Apparently it was just you, but I'll explain anyway. I'll type this slowly, because apparently you can't read very quickly. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I went to KD, they fucked up my car (charged me for new turbo studs and nuts, used the old ones, they came loose, leak-city). Dave "fixed" it for free. Free = another trip to PA from NY and missing work because he said it would take 5 hours tops and it took 8 1/2. The car was not fixed, my trip was wasted, and now I do all my own work with RD's help. However, I still feel, due to others' experiences, that Dave does good work and I would have no problems recommending him. The problem is that he had his tech at the time do all of the work on my car, and when he fucked up, Dave again had the tech work on it, re-using a turbo gasket and causing it to leak for the rest of eternity.
