so tommy lo (celebrity driver) signed up for the kart racing series, and we went up to watch him race at sears point. it was dry in the am, but by the time the race rolled around it was nice and slippery wet. tommy qualified second, and had a real good race, set the fastest laptime too.

so the upside, you show up, they give you the kart, theres no car you have to haul around and maintain, its also cheaper.....

these school karts were pretty tame, but it made for some really good racing.

and even at $400 a weekend, its cheaper than the car....

My friend just down the road runs two Daytona Prototypes, and 4 to 6 named drivers. When the regulars are not racing the big cars they race Shifter Karts at the local track. They are seldom recognized in their plain jane helmets.

Formula one drivers also tune themselves on Karts. Nothing in racing requires the hand/eye coodination that a Kart does. You get real good on a Kart, and all other race cars seem to operate in slow motion.

Years ago when I raced Karts, you were allowed up to three engines. So, the fast (Money) guys had three 35 HP Horstman West Bends across the back. A set of tires per session was required. Mind numbing accelleration.
