I finally got my beast up and running today. Not done yet, but playable https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

2 player machine, 27" arcade monitor, celeron 900 , 20 gig drive, 398k memory, blah blah blah. Hacked a comp usa trackball(thanks vosko https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR )

and used a keyboard interface to run the sticks and buttons. All working together perfectly thanks to Bill and Windows XP! LOL

Oh yeah, It plays 3260 ACTUAL ARCADE GAMES dating from 1978 till current :bigok:

Tournament anyone ????

What front end do you use to launch with XP.

Mine died when I went to XP.

turbovr6 06-01-2002 07:13 PM

Not using any front end I just placed a shortcut for mame32 in my startup folder. I can use the mouse or joystick to select a game. I hate dos so I had to sacrafice a snazzy front end for ease and simplicity

thats fat as hell, u got me beat. I got my 50" in my room w/ my PS2. Waiting for surrond sound and big ass speakers.

Seppuku 06-01-2002 09:24 PM

i have an xbox,ps2,game cube, playstation, and a 5 disk cd player with dolby digital decoder and 9 speakers hooked up to it (now that is suround sound) the only problem is its hooked up to a 19 inch tv and my room is 9x9 so the speakers are a little bit of over kill

holy **** how do i build one? is there a more complete write up on this somewhere or a site with instructions. i have to have one... no more blowing $5 worth of quarters out my ass just to get spanked by some ass with thick glasses and a runny nose https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/bounce.gif

bigtime 10-02-2002 10:31 PM

thats the ****

drew 10-02-2002 11:44 PM

thanks for postin gthe pics man... looks good! :bigthumg:

when I build mine I think I'm going to do it sort of like that... a sort of sitting level verses standing... I'm going to use joysitck set like the one x-gaming has and build a recess for it... I want to use it kind of like a game station for other games too... I have one of those sweet Logitech Momo leather wrapped steering wheels and pedals, want to build the console so I can attach the wheel easily or possibly switch in a nice flight joystick and pedals... a car seat comes to mind also... but that could possibly ruin two player arcade action unless it is modular or something...

anyway... back to my point... that's friggin' cool man... it's making me want to actually start mine... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Turbo II 10-03-2002 05:50 PM

wow, how did i miss this post. hey jay how did u make it? details please. i need something to do

turbovr6 10-03-2002 07:52 PM

Well you can build the cabinet from scratch, or do what I did, search the net for people giving old ones away.

Here are links with info on the harware/software part of the project:

http://www.arcadecontrols.com/arcade.htm

http://home.earthlink.net/~seanhat/arcade/arcade.html

http://www.geocities.com/mamehelp/

http://www.mameworld.net/

http://www.russprince.com/cabinet/

Now once you have all that figured out. here is where you but the sticks and buttons.

http://www.happcontrols.com/

And this is the site to buy all the proper interfaces to get all those buttons to work with windows

http://www.ultimarc.com

Any Questions just ask away.

One of the hardest parts of the project is finding working roms.

I have 3247 working games stored on 10 Cd's. So if you get that far, or you just want to play on your regular PC let me know
