Wanted to start a thread before I went out to celebrate. I just got back from my FAA checkride. Everything went flawless, I answered all the questions perfectly, flew well within standards, and got my private pilot licence. And to add irony to the situation, today marks my 1 year anniversary living in Tulsa. What a great year, I have accomplished so much! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Actually I ended up picking up some charcoal and did some grilling.

The checkairmen asked I do a short field landing on our way back in. I was on my downwind leg when the tower requested I do a short approach for incoming traffic. We don't really do short approaches in the private at the school, but I have done them once or twice with my instructor. I was still making my turn as I passed over the numbers, then planted it firmly inside the thousand foot markers. It was super cool to be able to do that.

Plans now are to work in my instrument and commercial. First I take a little vacation though.

Congratulations. Now go celebrate!

Are you going to be a commercial, private pilot? Just curious. My pops has dealt with planes for 25 years. Now he is a Field Service Represantive for Boeing and works along side L3 Communications. He does all the LAN, WAN, and tele. lines, and whatnot. All the big computer stuff. But he still has trouble typing and has to look at the keys all the time. He was a Flight Engineer in the Air Force for 21 years, but retired once the computers started taking over the engineering part on most of the planes, he knows five plans by heart top to bottom, and he also flew for Atlas Air(which is now out of business, but use to be on the biggest cargon companies in the world). I don't know how he does it. Ok, Justin history over with.

Yes, the goal is to be a commercial pilot and fly the biggest thing they offer. After commercial i'll get my CFI and build up hours by instructing, hopefully at this school. I'll get my ATP and try to get hired on by someone.

Congrats!

Don't take too much of a break, you'll be suprised how quickly the skills get rusty. Anyway, don't stop learning, stay safe, and have fun!!

A couple years from now we're all standing around at some meet, wondering "where's 94touring?" He lands nearby, then strolls out of his private jet with a white suit on (no shirt under the coat) smoking a fine cigar. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

ARRRRRRRRRRR, MATEY!!!

Sinful7 06-15-2004 09:56 AM

oh.. PILOT, not PIRATE. Disregard previous comments.

94touring 06-15-2004 10:12 AM

Haha i'm a pirate now. I just got my parot and eye patch.

Hey, whats the deal with changing your avatar!

UniqueTII 06-15-2004 10:44 AM

So next time you get pulled over you can tell the cop:

"I just got my pilot/pirate's license, so I thought speeding a little would be okay...it's not like I was flying."

Wait, that's dumb.
