Hurricane Irene rumbled through on Saturday and just before she headed north around 9 pm she caused a very old oak tree to fall in my backyard. It made a bit of a crash, but landed just short of my kids' playhouse/swingset. I guessing I'm going to need a new chainsaw before this is over.

YUM, Chainsaw discussion... I am Stihl fan myself... We need a chainsaw picture thread.

I run a cheap ass ECHO from the Big Orange Box Store with a Huskaverna Chain and Ba

I have a weak-ass craftsman, I'd love to have a Stihl. The craftsman has been a good 1st/learner chainsaw though, it's underpowered enough that I never have to worry about it kicking up or catching real bad, it just bogs down instead.

Got a Husqvarna 346 xp i picked up barely used for $280 (usually about $520 new). It absolutely RIPS, 3.7hp..*insert Tim Allen grunting*

So use it as firewood or are they worth money for hardwood?

I couldn't find anybody with any interest in it. I'm sure there were about 1000 similar oak trees toppled in the area during the storm. We've made good progress with it. Sawing it up and splitting it with a gas powered hydraulic splitter. Neighbor's dad has a use for the firewood.
