My longest on-hold time, that I kept track of, was just around 45 minutes. That was for obtaining financial aid information for college.

Then I tracked down the financial aid office, since I knew they had to be somewhere in town (state capital and all). The front desk guy happened to know the general area where they were. I found it in an unmarked suite with tinted glass. They weren't happy to see me, and told me to never tell anyone where they're located. Ha!

Are you serious?! LOL

That's funny.

I had to talk to my TV service provider to find out why my free TV package was costing me 200 bucks. I threw up in my mouth a little bit when I got my bill.

Yep! I neglected to mention that I was on hold for 45 mins., and hung up before anybody got to me.

I worked about 2 blocks from the state department of education building, so I went there and asked the front desk guy. He said "I think their office is behind the Hooters" (about 3 miles away). I recognized the location he meant, an old strip mall now occupied by several state offices.

I showed up there during lunch hour, walked in the food court, and asked a few folks if they knew where an education office was around there. Someone gave me the suite number. I found the suite, the only identifying mark was the actual suite number, no sign or anything.

Walked in, one reception desk and 2 doors only accessible with key card. I said I had a question about financial aid, and needed to talk to someone. Waited about 35 mins. for the person to return from lunch. They brought me into their office, answered all my questions, and asked me to not tell anyone where their office is located, or they'd have a line of students a mile long waiting outside.

The lady also gave me a better local phone number to call in case I had other questions, rather than their usual published toll-free number.

Fun stuff!

A lot of people that need money for school aren't eligible for financial aid.

A lot of ...angry people.
