I'm back from Canberra, Australia and they call that the capital of Australia. It's a dead place and unfortunately I have to move there as my parents are expanding business and want me to do the accounting work and run things there. In return they will make me 50% partnership in the business. I've spoken to the misses and she doesn't want to go. What do you think I should do / or get her to convince her to come with me.
Know the bad thing is that I'm not going to have time to dragrace as much and I have to sell the house and get another one in Canberra. Then move everything there. I'll probably sell the FB and keep the FD. Help... |
No don't do it.

It's just not worth it I think. If you parents are willing to give you 50% of the bussines, then you're obviously gifted in what you do. Couldn't you use that to get a job there in Sydney that pays the same or better and stay? Or are you moving to help your folks?

Well, can you garranty me a job here for $60,000+AUD a year, then I'll stay. At the moment i'm getting $53,000AUD what ever that is in USD, so the more the better and don't forget I have 2 Rx7.
|
So do you think I should still stay.
|
Indeed mate!!!

Give me time to think about it and will see. My situation is move out of my brothers house and move everything to Canberra and quit my job and find myself another one. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif

You both have to be happy with the circumstances. Money is not everything. Obviously your wife will have to quit her job so thats lost income. What is Canberra like? I would imagine Sydney is a hoppin city with lots to do. Are you prepared to be someplace quieter that possibly has less to do.
It sounds like if you move more of your free time will be taken up. On the other hand it is family and they need help its a tough call. I said money isn't everything but this job could have potential too. 50% owner of a company is nothing to sneez at. You could possible buy a vacation home in sydney with all the crazyy money your making. |

I say do it, the old lady should be supportive of that, just tell her that it's the best thing for both of you, to give it a try and if it doesn't work out you can always return.
|
That's what im trying to tell her but...
|
are you married?

Hell, run to Canberra, find a Sheila on the side and keep the GF in Sydney! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
|
Hell no, and pitty she off line cause if she was still on she'd say that she would want to go now.
|
Well. I'd say the solution is simple, you move, she moves with, if she doesn't like it she can move back, ya know that ain't gonna happen once she gets there.
|
I know your not married but I thought this might help you out.
How strong to you feel about doing this move and taking on this job? If you feel like this is a good oportunity for you then go for it. I thought about this today while I was out running errands. My wife loved living in West Palm Beach Florida. Decent size City lots to do (lots of shopping) great place to live. I was working my ass off and doing o.k. money wise. A collegue was pressuring me to start my own business. It meant moving to a small town with nothing to do in it. A real shithole. It was in my opinion a great opportunity. I wanted to go for it. My wife was hesitant. We moved and I started my own business. The town sucked! The money was really tight for the first year also. Looking back it was the best moveI ever made 6 years later and we doing very well. I am so happy now that my wife went along with this even though she dredded moving to this town. Now we are deeply rooted here and will possibly never move back to West Palm. We have moved one town south of where we were and even though its quiet its a good place to live and raise a family. No regrets from either of us. Do what YOU feel is best for both of you. You know best what to do. |

Although admittedly I hav eno clue what Canberra is like it could be like a pop. 100 town. Make the best of it. 50% of a good running company that is expanding sounds like a great opportunity. Good luck to both of us. NOW I want to see a "Here is Canberra" thread with pictures and all. Lets see this little hole in the wall. |
