Ok, as my earlier posts said, I was having the common problem with the brakes shuddering. No big deal. ha. Its a known problem with the tundras, I expected it.

I first took the truck into the Toyota dealership, the one I purchased the truck from. I asked to have the brake tsb performed. They said they would check on it, and check all my brakes. A day later they called and said that I already had the larger brakes. Ok, good. I'll just get some new rotors and pads. hehe... Nope.

I ordered my rotors from ebay. The one that offers "Brembo" rotors with black, silver, red, and blue "rust prevention paint"... It takes more than 3 weeks for me to acctually get my rotors. When I finally get them in, it is the day before I leave for chicago. Convenient. They also are the wrong color (ordered silver, got blue) and are not really brembo at all. they are some off brand. complete false advertising. Me = mad. I get back from chicago, run to the auto parts store, get some 5.3" pads, like the toyota dealer said I had, and took it all to my friends shop. He fitted the rotors, and tried to fit the pads. Too big. I got a set of the smaller 4.7" pads. Perfect fit. So basically the toyota dealership lied to me. Thanks a lot. I now have a useless set of pads. me = VERY mad

It doesn't end there. While the dealership was checking my brakes, they also checked the rears. They were out of wack also, I went ahead and told them to turn the rotors and straighten everything out. I paid for this. After leaving the dealership with the truck still shuddering, I assummed it was because I hadn't changed the front brakes yet (this was the first trip, before ordering rotors or pads or anything). Ends up the front brakes might not have ever been the problem. After we installed the brand new complete front brakes it still shuddered. My drums were still out of round. Even though I just paid 50 something bucks to have them turned. Me = dangerous.

I am getting my new drums in tomorrow from advance auto parts, I'm through with the dealership. The great part: I move out first thing thursday morning to go to college. I have to have the truck done by then. I also have to finish packing, go buy some more supplies.

Plain and simple, I got screwed. multiple times. Some people have to go through thereapy for being unwillingly screwd this many times. I plan on placing a not very nice phone call to the dealership demanding my 50 something dollars back for the drums that they didn't turn. And maybe the money that their screwup is now costing me.

I'm pissed if that isn't already obvious. If it wasn't so last minute I would make a personal trip to the dealership. I already plan on placing a call to toyota corp to notify them of the dealers antics. I am not the customer these guys wanted to piss off.

Me = seeking calm collected psychotic revenge on multiple people.

Speak to the owner of the dealership, placing a call to Toyota Corp will take FOREVER to get a response back, unless you got seriously injured in the Tundra because of the faulty brakes. They will just tell you to take it to the dealership again.

Good luck getting the situation straight though, and good luck at school. Where are you going anyways?

Try and keep a lid on that temper of yours - you might end up killing somebody.

I cant see having "larger" front brakes with drums in the rear?

Anyhow- its some douchebag tech that lied or didnt bother to look, unless you truck comes up in the computer as having certain brakes

I had a similar expierence with my Mazda 6's brakes

I didnt have to spend any of my own money, but my problems occured at 5500 miles.

OMG!!! I went to advance to pick up my drums today.

"I'm sorry sir, we don't have those in stock."

"The guy I talked to yesterday ordered them, said they'd be in today"

"They were never ordered. they arent on the list at all."

Bastards. I went to every parts store that I know of. No one has them

boxrs4sale 08-17-2005 03:57 PM

dude, def. not your day....

my dads 02 tundra had the brake shuddering thing, but he traded in for an 04 or 05 (not sure).. its much nicer, and no more brake shudder.

rowtareh 08-17-2005 04:23 PM

Kind of weird that an 03 Tundra has drum brakes in the rear. What model is it that you have Venom?
