Ok, I've been with AOL (shitheads) for over 5 years (I didn't know better at the time), I had ordered their DSL package just because there was no obigation to keep it. The advertised speed (384 down/no idea how much up) didn't hold for even a sec. I downloaded Photoshop and it took forever at only 50-70 bits/sec. WTF, it was supposed to be 384. It would start at that, but would go down to 50 in 5 sec. A few days ago I droped the service but am still on their Dial-Up. I need DSL again, but which ISP. I'm droping AOL like a bad habit in a month (dilema arose and they gave me 2 free months), they have to go. I'm thinking Covad, it's 1500down/128up. Sounds pretty good but what can I expect, what ISP's do you guys have? What do you pay and how's the service and advertised speed. Can't pay more then $50 a month. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I've had a DSL account with http://www.speakeasy.net/ for about 3 years. It is very reliable and they allow you to run servers. The packages have changed over the years, but I have 4 static IPs, 384/128 (that really flows 384/384) for $60/month. There are cheaper options for bandwidth (cable, for instance), but this has worked well for me. Note that 384Kbps = about 38 KBps, but my bandwidth never drops (or goes over the rated speed).
