well i figured it out im going to be an engineer. im hoping to design cars and ****. Maybe if im lucky i can get a job with mazda and design a new rx7 or some other rotary powered vehichle. the next thing to decide is wether or not to drop out of high school and get a g.e.d and go straight to college or wait to get out of high school and then go to college any suggestions guys?

Finishing high school will look alot better than getting a G.E.D.

I dropped out of high school my senior year, and went and got my G.E.D. (Good Enough Diploma), and Ive been doing fine, but then again I've been working at the same place for the past 4 1/2 years. I'd say finish high school, then do what you want.

thanks for the advice my brother just dropped out and got a g.e.d. hes going to go to college and be a uhhhh damn i cant remember the name of it any way its some sort of radiation thing hes gonna be some sort of doctor thing. its kind of weird that hes going into the medical feild though considering that the women in our family do that for instance my mom is a coder and my grandma was a radiologist but all the men in the family have always done stuff with cars like my grandpas a machanic and my dad was and now ill be designing cars and probably at some point work on them too just weird that my brother wants to be a girl

Stay in highschool and take as many math, physics and any other classes they offer that would help you towards your goal even if they are not transferable.

Check with your high school counselor and see if they have a transfer program.

I'm told that a high school diploma looks better then a GED. I dropped out my freshman year myself and got my GED and have never set foot inside a college. Of course I've got my certifications (MCSE, MCT, MCP+I, MCDBA, CCNA, A+, Net +, CIW, CIW CI, CNA, MCAD when it goes live and probably a few others I'm forgetting. No Unix certs yet, maybe tomorrow) so that helps in my field. Plus expeeerienencne.

And I spels more gooder too https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Still, stay in school and take advantage of it. Plus do all the extra reading you can, etc.

You can't get very far as an engineer with an associates degree. You'll need a 7 year apprenticeship, whereas with a bachelors degree, you only need 2 years. At least that's what I was told when I was an engineering major...not I'm in comp sci.

Unique is right. I went to be an engineer and there was too much math and **** so I changed majors.

Definetly stay in H.S. though. You will have a better chance getting into a better college with a diploma.
