yeah thats like a c-

phinsup 01-29-2004 02:07 PM

DOH, you gotta clean the glass first! Actually you can use a little soapy water behind the sticker when you apply it so you have time to move it a little and get the bubbles out.

I'll cut you a deal on another one https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Baldy 01-29-2004 02:09 PM

hehe, who'da thunk a sticker needs instructions. I would've done the same thing.

Seppuku 01-29-2004 02:09 PM

i cleaned the window first actualy. I guess it was so dirty i needed to do it more than 3 times.

phinsup 01-29-2004 02:10 PM

Yea not to mention that 90% of the glass cleaners on the market are pretty much useless. Their great for smearing the dirt around and evening it out, but that's about it LOL

Sinful7 01-29-2004 02:13 PM

Yes, a little soapy water (I use 2 drops of soap to one spray bottle of water) will give you some lubrication to slide the decal on. Then once you get it tacked down, grab a squeegee, or a soft towel with your thumb in it, and push all the letters from the inside to the edges, to release the airbubbles. Also, when you leave the decal out in the sun and it gets nice and warm, the tiny airbubbles will come out.

Just to show i can put stickers on usualy heres another pic. I just cant use the really big ones. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Sinful7 01-29-2004 02:24 PM

I've done a handful of LARGE rear window stickers, 22x12, with die-cut flames (for my GM car club).. That was a huge PITA! The nopistons.com windshield logo should be no problem!

Leetheslacker 01-29-2004 02:26 PM

Hey, at least it's on there straight!

Sinful7 01-29-2004 02:27 PM

Oh, and to clean glass - I use soapy water, a squeegee and a razorblade, then follow with alcohol and a lint-free towel.

Jims5543 01-29-2004 02:38 PM

The windshield banner can be hard to put on for an amature like me. I wished I had a second person to help me I was suprised mine came out o.k. .... well actually I ripped the N in No its 2 pieces now but you have to get real close to tell. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

phinsup 01-29-2004 02:41 PM

Yea you can usually tear that vinyl and get it back together without looking like crap, you just gotta press it down real good.

Sinful7 01-29-2004 02:41 PM

Speaking of, WHERE'S MY BANNER???

*shakes fist*

phinsup 01-29-2004 02:45 PM

Didn't you order it with a sweatshirt?

LOL I can send it out now if you want, since it's gonna be 10 years before we get enough pre-orders on the sweatshirts.

Red ones?

Seppuku 01-29-2004 05:32 PM

I think i may be able to salvage the sticker or atleast make it look alright until i can get another one, i fixed the messed up O and got rid of alot of the air bubbles. Tommorow im gonna have to wash the car though. If you couldnt tell it hasnt been washed in over 4 weeks.

Rob x-7 01-29-2004 06:52 PM

soapy water is the key, johnsons baby shampoo seems to be

the choice.

i still get nervous putting decals on things, sometimes they

can cost hundreds of dollars and be 20' long

rotary_revolution_0 01-30-2004 12:03 AM

I'm going to go to classes on how to put stickers on. It seems that I need to be "trained" before doing such a task. Where's my pencil sharpener? Stickers are hArd.......... 0_o

The cleanest my car windows ever were was right before I had them tinted about 13 years ago. I have since removed the tint.

The guy used Dawn or Palmolive dishwashing liquid diluted in a spray bottle but the key was that he wiped the windows with crumpled Newspaper. Yes I said Newspaper. My god the windows sparkled. He also did the best tint job I have ever seen. It never once bubbled. The only reason I got rid of it was because I had to replace both the drivers and passenger windows.

Rotarydragon 01-30-2004 08:36 AM

I don't put stickers on my car, I let my wife do it. I will screw it up, doesn't matter what I try.

Travis R 01-30-2004 12:36 PM

You can use a straight edge razor blade to clean up the sticker. Slice the wrinkle and overlap the edges. On the bubbles, make a slit and push out the air with your finger.

Good luck

you know, my grandmother always had me clean glass with newspaper, and everyone always thinks I'm weird. But it's always worked for me. No lint, and plentiful.

Clean, white newspaper is best, the printed-on stuff can leave ink on your windows! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png

Newspapers and vinegar work the best. One whole end of my mom's house was glass and that was the only way we would clean it.

my mother-in-law said she used to go to the newsprint guys, and they would give her a large roll of blank newsprint that was too small for them to use on the next run. She would pay $2, and they would give her $2 back when she brought back the cardboard tube. She still has a bunch left, I need to start using it. Thanks for the tip. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

oh, and I always got ink on my hands but I never noticed it on the glass...but I wouldn't doubt it could happen
