I think you guys are confusing making money with working.

Making money is probably one of the easiest things to do. There is so much of it out there that aquiring it is not that hard. Unfortunatly lots of people assume you must work some craptastic job 40+ hours a week so they can pay off all the debt they've put themselves in. Its sad really... but you know what, that gives me a lot more enlightenment.

And for the sailboat comment... you need money to own a sailboat, they are not cheap to upkeep. As with any boat, things break all the time and marine equipment is about as expensive as it gets.

The problem is, most people (america) spend money they dont have. The national house hold average is -7,000 a person. Then you get into a cycle of paying off debts you made 10 years prior. So you cant quit work, you cant go travel, you cant get all the cool stuff you want, you cant be happy, etc... But hey, everyone has the ability to stop being such dumbfucks and do something about their situations. I have no pitty on people who complain about **** they can easily change.

To actually answer your question though...

I havent worked a normal job in 4 years. I go crabbing a couple times a year because I enjoy it. I also trade options on the US stock markets and sometimes make money in other ventures. I have no bills and many thousands of dollars in multiple bank and trading accounts.

1 year ago I dropped my main bank account to -10 dollars and I wanted to see if I could make it to 1,000,000 liquid dollars 5 years from that date. Without using any money I still had I've managed to get that account into the mid 30k range in a little over 5 months. I didnt have any help from anyone but myself, using knowledge that ANYONE can get. Its a matter of setting goals for yourself and doing them. Anyways, point is, what wakes me up in the morning is knowing that today will be another day that I am alive. While I am alive, I can do anything I wish. To me thats worth waking up. Some people are stupid, thats life.

i work cause if i didn't, my wife would kill me. and feed me to the cats. cause really, i just work to feed the cats.

seriously though, I work to support my (growing) family, and I also work because my job gives me opportunity to grow, not only financially and within the company, but they also pay for mechanical training, ASE certification, state inspection courses - which is what i love to do (work on cars). I don't plan on staying with the company for my entire life, but for now, I'm progressing rather quickly up the ladder and even though I have to bust my ass, it still gets me the fullfilment I like. I like coming home at the end of the day and not feeling like a lazy bum, or feeling like i get **** handed to me just because. It will be nice to be financially independent at some point, but it's still early in the game.
