That reminds me of the transporter where he punches in the code and his plates flip around to show another one. And then in his garage he has this huge collection of fake plates. lol
it shouldn't be too hard to make. just some hinges with some springs of a certain stiffness....
but if someone actually made one for cheap they'd make a killing |
Yeah no **** TJ, I'd actually want one of these since we have to have front plates in Illinois. I seriously don't see any dissadvantages to this thing.
makes sense.. id buy one https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
i saw a picture of an rx-7 forever ago with one of these. it was for an article about a car show. but the magazine decided to raid the parking lot for pictures of cars instead. (was in japan)

turbovr6 did something like that.
Dudes have been making these things on their own over in Japan for year. I first saw them about 8 years ago and they weren't even close to being new back then. Hit up Home Depot if you want one.
I have something on my car like that for over a year now. Mine is cable activated, nit that ghetto wind activated ****. I drive all day long with no front plate, I see a cop, push a button, and down goes the plate https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Only one problem if one is trying to find a loop hole in having to have a front license plate: it's still illegal. At least in VA your license plate has to be mounted permanently so that it is visible and stable at all times.
My front bumper never had holes drilled in it so I never put one on. I'll take the $25.00 ticket everytime, as it isn't a moving violation. I'll probably get a ticket later today for saying that. |
I guess that could help you turbo guys or just bolt up your plates toward the side of the bumper, but for me it would just be waste of money because the red light cams catch you from behind not front so it would get in more trouble than out
hehe...we don't have cameras, or front plates! I love Florida!
but I still don't have a turbo, so it doesn't really matter https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png |

Ohio doesn't have any of that **** either, no emissions to https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |
I just got a written warning last night for having my flip-front plate.
"Obstructed front plate" so I have to make it non-flipup. I've had it like this for almost 2 years, oh well.............. |

Toledo doesn't, where do you live?
Cinci
they have emissions in cinci? I have a couple friends who go to college there, I was under the impression that they didn't have any tests their either?
It would be cool to make it motorized. I was thinking about this the other day; You get pulled over for have no front plate, motor puts it back down, tell the officer there is a front plate, he checks it, because its motorized it locks in place, so it doesn't move when they check it. Makes them look like an ass. Flip it back up and drive away. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I may start making/selling them soon |
do you guys have to pay twice as much, since you have to get two tags? And what about when you renew them?
In jersey registration is once a year. The cost depends on private/commercial, and some other random crap. I just got my renewal today for the FD $43.50
red light cams catch you from behind not front my friend just got pulled over yesterday because he didnt have a plate in front, he asked why, the cop said because the red light cams take the pic of the front. This also makes sence because if the light turns red when youa re more then your rear wheels are more then half way across the intersection then its ok, if not the it takes a pic form the front and if your rear is not half way the your front is visible to the camera on top of the pole facing you. And finaly i see the cameras every day, they face you from the front from the pole where the lights hang. Thats the deal in California at least. |
