As 2ndGenerationY alluded to in the dog=deer thread, I smacked one good today. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png I was out cruising on one of the fun gravel roads around here and came up over a crest to find the deer on the side of the road. Knowing that it was a member of the most retarded breed of animal ever, I slammed on the brakes, but the combination of shitty brakes and gravel didn't slow me down a whole lot. I swerved over about as far as I could but still hit its head with the left side of the car. It dented the bumper, broke the turn signal, made it so that my door won't open all the way, and as for the deer...well, bloody gravel looks really gross. I guess I'm just lucky I wasn't going very fast (Subaru + hill = slow) and didn't hit the whole deer, otherwise my car would be fucked.

I am starting to think that car became cursed. It tried to leave me stranded 4 times last week after never giving me trouble for almost 2 years, then I got pulled over for speeding https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif (60 in a 55; warning) and then this with the deer. BIG TIP on how to deal with deer:

BEEP YOUR FRIGGEN HORN!

I Swear, a LOT of accidents could be avoided if people made it a habit to hold their hand on the horn as well as any manuvering/braking.

When your car is approaching the dear, it is actually pretty quiet. It see's your headlights (if at night) and hears a "humm" and just is like "Hmmm wtf?" and stands there. And that's what is usually the cause, is that the deer has no idea how to react.

But, if you hold yer horn, it's more like "HOLY !#(*)% WTF OH GOD BAMBI!" and they go a-runnin.

Try it out next time (considering you're safe already). I pull into my driveway some nights and there is like 5 near my garage...they just sit there....one tap on the horn (or better yet, hold the horn down) and they just scatter.

Just keep that in mind next time you see a deer, it might be the difference of a dent in yer Fc/Fd!

I nearly got 2 moose at the same time once. Luckily I saw them in the ditch well ahead and they chose to run in the same direction as me before crossing the road so I missed them by about 5 feet.
