pay some mechanic to let you pass anyway https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

teknics 02-25-2003 07:36 PM

$75-$100 and you don't have to pass to get a sticker they just give you one https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

OR (fd3boost told me this one, not sure if it works outside of maryland tho) find a mechanic who will forge a receipt for over $500 worth of exhaust equipment for the car. Then bring it back and if it still doesn't pass you are exempt from the emissions test https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

put a converter on the car that doesnt take a air tube, you should pass no problem and you wont need the air pump on there for it to work.

As long as it passes emissions most inspectors will over look the visual, unless they dont like you.

i have emission components should you decide to go retro..

Srce 02-25-2003 09:42 PM

Pass. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I live in State College and all i did was put a Bonez hi-flow cat on the TII, without the airpump attached (it has an air tube) it still passed no problem. Any cat will pass in PA, as long as its not rusted out.

-=RX-7 KID=- 02-26-2003 10:38 AM

Ok that's sounds good so ia m going to have to put a high flow cat on and then test. Then after the test ust rip the cat off and put my stright pipe back on. Which i think just bolts up. That sux's i am going to have to get a a frekin 200 dollar cat and then test. There isent any way i could make the car exempt is there? like i know classic cars dont have to have any thing. But that's 20 years old at least. Is there any other way to get around it?

lxk199 02-26-2003 02:10 PM

To be exempt from emissions your title has to say your odometer is exempt, either because of SUPER high mileage, or it doesnt function properly (in PA). If you want to borrow my cat for your test, come on over and pick it up, it'd be cheaper than ordering one lol...An about the classic car thing, in PA, if your car came with cats (classic or not) it has to have at least one for visual.

-=RX-7 KID=- 02-26-2003 02:35 PM

Ok well i talked to the a local mech say's i'd just have to use a cat. I ordered one for the test so it's all good. I'll just use it every year. Plus you cat wont work for me i dont think i have a 93 R1. Thanks for all the help.

Well here in maryland ,you have to have 450.00 worth of work done to get a 2 year waiver--and the bad part--is now they check to see its all been done ,it use to be like 275.00 and they didnt check.--I got a cat put on my car,(that i didnt have) and also cleaned the hell out of my air valve i think it was --it goes for like 300 on mazdatrix.--I got a shop to say--that was new and that they put a flowmaster cat on ---lol--it all came up to be like 520.--It all worked out.I failed again, but i got the waiver

-=RX-7 KID=- 02-27-2003 01:36 PM

Yeah we onl need 50 bucks worth here. HAHA, But you have to have all the basic equipment to get that wavier. Hell all emissons is, is a form of tax and if you have a fast car they just tax you more. It's a bunch of bullshit.

thats y i kept my cloged cat for emissions

i could rent it out https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/devil.gif

Rob x-7 02-27-2003 07:16 PM

just leave the high flow converter on the car, it will run the same as it did

before and will run so much cleaner and will remain legal.

lxk199 02-28-2003 08:14 AM

Ugh...I hate running my car with the hi-flo cat, cause I have my airpump removed, so I can't really have it on for a while, it's just doggin' around...As soon as it gets above 40 degrees, the ******' thing is coming off again...

do you have a converter with or without a tube?

If there is no air pump just use a converter with no air tube and it

will run great.

true, for $50 I can get my cars passed, but it was easier to just

bolt on the converter, now I dont need the "favor" and the end

result is worth it, at least I can stand behind the car now

and not pass out, and the ozone layer thanks me too!

vosko 02-28-2003 05:25 PM
