Or Labour Day Of course we don't do celebrate this holiday in the US, we celebrate "Loyalty Day" (oh yes that's loaded with irony) which was passed into congress in 1921, so I'll give some background.

What is May Day?

In many countries, May Day is synonymous with International Workers' Day, or Labour Day, which celebrates the social and economic achievements of the labor movement. As a day of celebration, however, the holiday has ancient origins and can relate to many customs that have survived into modern times. Many of these customs are due to May Day being a cross-quarter day, meaning that it falls approximately halfway between an equinox and a solstice.

In short happy May Day https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif

Yay! Is it a drinking holiday? Because if it's a holiday, I'm not an alcoholic.

Though not very observed, at least it's got more credence than the all-but-made-up Valentine's Day, or the new one I see creeping onto the greeting card shelves, Sweetest Day.

So why is it when a ship is sinking or an airplane is about to crash that the crew is always on the radio saying "Mayday! Mayday!"???

In death they are vocalizing their love for the chocolate bar of the same name.
