This guy is on crack!
 

I'm trying to find somebody to make me a carbon fiber sunroof on my 85 Rex. So I've been E-Mailing this dude for a couple of days now and he got me a rough estimate and I wish I was sitting down when I read this.


"Here is the break down. This includes tooling cost and the finished part with class A clear finish, 5.7 oz twill weave carbon fiber ready to bolt in. Finished part should weigh well under 4 lbs."

$2830 for a sunroof, a 24" x 34" SUNROOF!

I can get a hood for $650. I figured it would be around the same cost as the mold needed to be made, but this is ridiculous.

It's a free country. Find somebody who will do it cheaper.

Too true. I'm going to try and build it myself. Can't get cheaper than that.

Sounds likke he was quoting "real"carbon fiber and not a fiberglass piece wwith. A cloth overlay
