Damnit, I know I've seen that car somewhere, but I can't think of it right now. I think they have one in the Imperial Palace Museum here.

mg

3rdfbproject 06-19-2005 04:35 PM

Is it a Packard?

inanimate_object 06-19-2005 04:56 PM

It has to be American - whitewalls and that grille/nose. Fantastic idea BTW, we should make this a regular thing.

aww crap, i cant think of the name...but they were all hand-built, V8 powered, the doors slide back into the sills instead of opening conventionally, I have a pic of one in a book somewhere...

defprun 06-19-2005 06:40 PM

Robin's daily driver.

Rotarydragon 06-19-2005 06:41 PM

Not a triumph, not an MG and yes it's american made originally with an I6 but when the company folded another guy bought them and put caddy V8's in them. About 435 made.

With the I6 it's not really as fast as it looks 0 to 60 in about 13 seconds.

Lesse...made in 1954. Company folded in 1955 but shipped the dies for the cars down to Argentina and made cars there for a few years.

Let me know when you give up.

j9fd3s 06-19-2005 06:52 PM

i wanna say its some kinda ghia/chrysler but they didnt fold in 55, so maybe some kinda of studebaker?

defprun 06-19-2005 06:59 PM

studebaker lasted quite a while didnt they?

Rotarydragon 06-19-2005 07:21 PM

Studebaker made it into about 1966 or so really dying in 64 with the Avanti going on till...well today more or less. They took out Packard in the late 50's and produced one of the most interesting cars the 58 Packard Hawk.
