Yea so we all eat, but there are certainly hose dinners that stick out in your mind, usually due to a combination of great food, atmosphere and the company you share it with.



So where did you eat your most memerable meals? I was suprised when I actually thought about it, strangely enough they were both in a town where you have to look hard to find a world class meal. I've eaten in my share of high end, over priced eateries and even waited a couple hours to have a meal prepared by wolgang puck in vegas one time.... not all that great.



Which leads me to my top two.



#1 Blue Heaven, Key West Florida, this is a restaraunt not wondered to by most, in fact people who have visited key west several times have never heard of it. The atmosphere amazing, husband and wife started out making lunches for the locals, pretty soon there was a line that lasted into dinner hours, so the owners brother, currently cooking in a 5 star eatery in new york city was called in to make the dinner menu. Food is incredible, outside dining under of all things old sails from sailboats, nice little bar you can't go wrong.



#2 Would have to be the pier house, amy and i ate here on our wedding night, the food was great, of course this is no place to go on a budget I think the tab was close to $300.



Other key west mentionables would be Louie's backyard, pretty cool place and great food. Vegas also has some decent eateries if you get away from the strip and chain restaraunts, but they can be difficult to find.



Another great restaraunt is a Tapanaki in Vancouver BC, they are located next to a large hotel, just over the border, cannot remember the name, but have been going there since i was a kid, prolly 20 years or better and always had a top notch meal.



Other notables, have always enjoyed the Crab Cracker in Kirkland, WA not a place you would expect to find great food, but they always crank out amazing fresh seafood and they are always packed.



So, what are the places you can't wait to get back too?

couple of places in vegas that i cant remember the name of, but like phins said they were away from the main areas (i practically lived there for 2-3months)

last year the gf's realtor took us all to this resurant in the st francis, and ate at one of the places there, michael mina. food was great, but you could tell it was also the place to be. you ordered the house special thing, and you got 3 little starters, 3 little salads, 3 entrees, and 3 desserts. it was really expensive too...

unfortunately no, i've only been up that way a couple of times and the disadvantage of tourist traps (the keys are no exception) is that the opportunity for poor quality eatery's to thrive is great, they dont have to worry about return customers, they have plenty of new victims, not to say there arent some great restaraunts there, you'll just have to look hard to find them.

if we compile a large enough list we should be able to go bankrupt trying them all

ohh in Aruba there's some good places, Tony Roma's is the only place close to the main hotels, it was pretty good when i went there (its a steakhouse) but since then people have told me it's gotten pretty bad.



Lots of the small little eateries right on the main harbor area are nice, some you can get a world class meal for next to nothing.



Best breakfast ever was in their pancake house, every kind of pancake you could imagine and each one was delicious.



If you're there for a week and eat in-town everynight you should stumble upon at least 1 or 2 great ones, some are simply exquisite and i would never have imagined them to be so good.

Haha. You jet-setters are a hoot. About the nicest restaurant I've been in in two years was the local Cheesecake Factory, and I thought the meal was mediocre and pricey, and the service sucked. When you've got two kids, the best places are those that can have food on the table in less than 5 minutes, and have you out the door in 30 to 45 minutes. The only places we can pull that off is the Mexican joint and the various fast-food franchises (except Wendy's which is unbelieveably slow all over town) and the all-you-can-eat buffets, which we affectionately call the "pig feeder".



Back in my wild single days I had nice meals in NYC, North Jersey, Richmond, and New Orleans, but I was too drunk to remember much about them. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif If you ever get to Richmond, VA, try LeMaire at the Jefferson Hotel downtown. It's quite good, and the service is exemplary.

Roberts of Charleston: Excellant Chef and Baritone Opera Singer. No menu, you eat what he cooks that day. Incredibly pricey

we used to go to the fish market; they had this teriaki tuna skewer thing that was just great, finish it off with chocolate covered strawberries...

My favorite pasta is from Carabba's. Chain restaurant, but still delicious.

There was a real nice and tasty (not too expensive) place in Seaside, FL, but I don't remember the name.



To me, there really isn't a food that is worth a bunch of money. If my bill is huge, I don't like the place, no matter how good the food was. I've been to a few fancy restaurants, but I was too busy counting dollar signs to enjoy the food.



Best food is grouper at my dad's house. yum!

I hate chain restaraunts and avoid them whenever possible. There are very few I eat at unless its the only thing around.



A big bill doesnt bother me in the least if the food is worth it, if the food sucks, then i hate the big bill.



Another one to add is Romeo y Julieta's in Cabo San Lucas, BCS Mex.



Of course my favorite cheap as hell food in the world, is Latitude 22+, with no airconditioner and great food. A meal that will leave you stuffed for 4 bucks. Lots of history here, lots of sailors have passed through it's doors and the atmosphere rocks, although i hear they moved which ruins it. Last time we were in there the owner bought us a couple rounds so he had someone to drink with lol

Oh, I can't believe I didn't think of this place. It's called Sahara's, Greek and Lebanese food. I love everything they have, and it's at good prices. mmmm, gyro meet is fabulous. Meat grape leaves are also marvelous. *drool*

HA HA very true, 5 days at sea eating canned soup and chips, let me tell you when we pulled into port that ******* cheeseburger could have been a leather patty and I'd still be swearing it was the best burger i ever ate!!!
