Got the call earlier, I got the job I had been hoping for! It's out of state government (which is what I've been in for the last 8 years), so I'm excited about actually getting raises every year (provided I don't suck). By some stroke of luck, they wanted someone with exactly the experience I have, and they seemed to be continually pleased with each nugget of my past career that I gave them. I'll also be the fleet manager, which is actually something I've been wanting to add to my resume. It's about a $4,500 raise, so that kicks ass, especially since my wife will be quitting her part-time job to stay home with the new baby (due in December).

Thanks guys!
Crap, I just did the math, I'm making less than I had thought! Currently $34,500. New job is $42,000, so it's a bigger pay increase than I thought! In my defense, I never really pay attention to annual salary, more on the monthly take-home pay. |
It's OK you can just get a $4500/yr raise and give me the rest. You don't need it.
I don't feel so bad now, since I make about $40k a year driving a forklift https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif |
Hmm, I can drive a forklift! (did a lot of that at my current job)
Living expenses here are pretty cheap though, compared to any town this size in this part of the country. My 2,174 sq. ft. house on 2.8 acres is appraised somewhere around $240k (on zillow.com), if that gives any idea. |
My apartment was appraised at $445/mo...
Unfortunately my car loan is what's holding me down. $350/mo for my DD... ugh... |
