So yea, I had this "medical waiver" on my merchant mariners license, had to send in a medical review, bloodwork all kinds of **** every year. I sent it in and I get this call back, "Hey scott this is Coast Guard Medical Officer such and such please call me back I would like to talk to you about your medical records".
Oh **** I think this ain't good at all. Call the dude back and he says, "Hey just wanted to let you know I am releasing the medical waiver on your license, you will no longer be required to submit a yearly review. We'll ask that you submit it every 5 years when your regular renewal comes up (which you have to do anyway)". So that is pretty fuggin cool, I am pretty close to my sea time for my Masters, so thats really good news. |
arg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it has nothing to do with your level of service, it's been recognized/practiced long before the USCG came along.... It's been around since the 19th century and i have read some literature indicating it was around in the 1600's. There is a ceremony to be followed, which varies a bit, from nice to horrific. The ceremony is your "baptism" into King Neptune's Court. It was supposedly started by the British Royal Navy, but i don't know how accurate that is. |
So does this license authorize you to carry extra seamen on your poop deck?
Steve |
Awesome! Cause for celebration! More beer!

Yea been killin the guiness which is crazy cause i had pretty much given up drinkin beer and switched to the hard ****, but bought 4 cases of guiness for the bahamas and i've been drinking it again. Although we did manage to kill some "Olde Nassau" rum while we were there. Gotta see if they have it in the local stores here. Funny cause rum was cheaper then a 6er of soda or pop or whaterver u freaky eastcoasters call it. |
