anyone here built their own go cart from the ground up? i found a web site that sells a 50hp single rotors go cart engine. pretty cool. but damn pricey...

but i wanna build one from the ground up for next to nothing...most likely with a lawn mower/pressure washer motor. im just looking for a few tips on motors choices, steering how to's, and maybe a way to make it a 2 or 3 speed cart. auto or shift. i found a few sights that have cart blue prints for the frame. pretty ugly. i'm planning on designing my own. but im looking for ideas on steering set ups, brakes, and "tranny" set ups...

always wanted to try it.. still dont really have the space to do so..

Wanted to do that this summer but my FDs rebuild kinda killed that one lol

seems to me a great motor for this would be the 125cc dirt bike motor. it comes with everything including a 4 speed tranny for under $300. the more i look this up, i see its really not that hard to build one from the ground up. but easier said than done might fit there...

but like others...damn cars take up the dough. especially when i have a 94,91, and newly a 80...

not a bad project, they dont have suspension, so all you have to figure out is the steering, and the frames are all pretty simple.

i accually found coil over suspension for them. and there only like $25 strut and spring. unless i was gonna build an offroad style one, i figure its not needed and maybe even an over kill.

so nobody here has build one yet?

i was tyring to find this motor for it: Sachs Wankel 303cc

found some videos of it on you tube...

I have 2 junkers sitting under a deck. It might be easier to find an older one with a busted engine to build on.

you have two sachs 303cc engines!?!? i cant find any others for sale. i was able to find a few parts for them. but not the engine itself. i never even heard of this engine until yesterday. do you even recomend using it? got any pics of it? internal shots? web site info?

75 Repu 08-20-2007 07:34 PM

im pretty sure hes talkin about junker go karts not sachs 303 engines.. although it is Blady and hes been known to pop up with surprises
