Hey guys, I'm not sure how many will remember me, I don't usually post anymore I'm really busy and I usually dont ever read posts like this as I know I won't change anyones mind. Having said that...

[quote name='sweet7' date='Jul 8 2005, 05:01 PM']I have personally seen evidence of WMDs in Iraq. Just because there aren't 40,000 warheads laying all over the country with Sarin and Anthrax in them dosent mean they dont/didnt exsist. The US military found large quanities of already manufactured Chemical and Biological agents in Iraq. What seperates that from a WMD? About an hour of work....

As far as the lack of link between Iraq and Al-Qaeda? Well I've personally put flexi-cuffs on Al-Qaeda members IN IRAQ. But then again, what do i know?

Not really trying to start a debate. Just trying to show you guys, through the expereiences of a soldier, that yes, Iraq was a threat to the stability of the Middle-East, the USA, and ultimately the World.

Both sides of our government have fucked up in this incident. I do believe the US jumped into Iraq without an exit strategy, which is nipping us in the butt right now. I also believe that the US military top-brass didnt take into account that it would take more troops to occupy the country then to conquer it. On the other hand, I think that having the liberals say that there were no WMDs in Iraq, Al-Qaeda was not linked to Iraq, and that basically Iraq was not a threat is a major load of bullshit.

sweet7, I remember the two of us and phoenix really getting into it about going to war when it first was starting. I have, and still do, value your and your commrades in arms commitment to our country.

Where you say that you beleive that we had no exit strategy and underestimated the number of troops it would take, that is a departure from what you had said to me during the early days of the war. You seemed confident that our government knew what it was doing and had taken time and thought to ensure the least possible American loss of life. It must be clear now that this was not the case. Unfortunately far to many of the things I have predicted have come to pass.

Looking back on it now, it seems clear to me that the main impetus to go to war was to ensure his re-election. He knew that no one would want to change leaders in the middle of the war. For further evidence of this, look at how he campaigned. He practically admitted that his domestic policies were terrible failures and ran specifically on his "war" campaign. Thankfully, the one prediction I had feared the most has not happened: we do not yet have a draft. I am still worried that if we can't find a way out of Iraq soon it is still a possibility.

And one last thing, for those of you who think the reason we haven't seen another terrorist attack in America is because of Homeland Secruity I have news for you: our turn is coming. I wish it were not true, but Iraq has become a breeding/training ground for new terrorists. I read a few reports that think the attacks in London may have been trained and recruited in Iraq. I can only imagine that at this very moment they are drawing their plans against us. Is that fear of reprisal going to stop me from living my life the way I always have? No. I just pray that somehow we will learn of their plans and be able to stop them before more Americans die needlessly.
