He was spearfishing on a wreck off the east coast fo Florida this past weekend.

He shot a fish (species I forget) he had to circle the wreck to get to the fish as it tangled his spear line through the wreck and it was too tight to swim inside.

As he rounded the end of the wreck he crossed paths with a fellow diver on his team. Who was chasing a fish and didn't see him. The other divers bang stick hit my friend in the head, the safety was not on. The striking pin hit the primer and put a mark in it. By some miracle the .45 cal never fired.

A bang stick is a long (or short) stick with a bullet on the end anything from a .22 cal to a .45 cal is used. They have safety's on them but you would undo the safety if you were antipating using it.

This is the same guy as some of you may recall that lost control of a crotch rocket at 90MPH and dropped it. We are sure now he has 9 lives. By our calculations he has 6 left. There is another "should have been killed" story I'll tell at another time.

This is what a bang stick does when you use it on a shark.

Yikes! That's one hell of close call, I hate it when stuff like that happens, I end up running it through my head over and over again.

My buddy had this wild thing he told me about when he got drunk, something about moving on to a different parallel or something when an event like that happens, sorry that made less sense when I said it, I should have forgotten about it.

rowtareh 04-26-2004 08:28 PM

Yikes. Scary stuff. That is why I stay away from water, beaches, islands, all that junk. I hate water, but I know how to swim, and swim well. I even have a pool for christs sake.

Hopefully your friend is okay and not too shaken up from the ordeal.

Holy crap, I don't even know what to say about that, it's almost impossible for me to comprehend, staying away from water, beaches, islands?

There's always two sides to a story. Maybe your friend wanted to die a horribly painfull death by 45 caliber bullet to the head under water?

holy crap, he should play the lotto. If there was ever a bang stick on a boat, I'm sure I'd somehow shoot myself in the foot or something. Those things seem like an accident waiting to happen.

What does he plan on using a bang stick for while diving?

Agressive Barracudas is what one of my friends use them for.

I was teasing this guy calling him a ***** because he is using the bang stick to knock out the fish they were spearing. As I understand it the fish were rather large and would be a PITA to bring to the boat alive.

Plus a thrashing injured fish isnt exactly what you want next to you under water.

ahhh, yeah I guess you east coast guys have bigger, angrier fish than the gulf side. I have yet to hear of a single person around here that's had a problem with barricuda or sharks, except for having a fish just disappear from their hand in a flash, or a fish bag being yanked off their belt in a flash. Those boogers are fast!

This guy that got hit in the head. His older brother bagged a nice Red Snapper. A shark came up and grabbed his bag and took off.

His first reation was to take off. Then he remembered it was a brand new catch bag. He is crazy BTW.

He turned around and went after the shark. He poked the shark in the head with his spear. The shark dropped the bag. He grabbed the bag and took off. The shark chased and grabbed the bag again.

He regrouped. Loaded his spear gun went in after the shark again. He poked the shark again then shot the bag as he swam towards the surface fast (30 feet of water) He pulled the bag behind him filling his BC and kicking it hard to the top. He beat the shark to the boat and got away.

He was breaking a cardinal rule. He was diving alone. I told you he was crazy.

94touring 04-27-2004 09:01 AM

YukiRX7Aisha 04-27-2004 09:27 AM

Near death count for this guy is 4 that we know of.

1. Jumped off of a 40 bridge into waterway at night drunk, face planted knocked himself out and had to be fished out by friends before he drowned.

2. Lost control of a bike at 90 MPH with no leathers on. Road rash over 1/2 his body.

3. Jumped off of a 60' bridge into water and compressed his spine could not walk for a week.

4. Bang stick to head - misfire.

We think when he hits #9 its over.

Jims5543 04-27-2004 08:01 PM

He was doing hand stands last winter on top of a water tower in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He is somewhat psycho!

I am convinced he has a deathwish.

I dont hang out with him. He makes the CK crew look lightweight. Bam who??
