well i was at work today and a dog walked in the shop door in the morning. ended up staying all day and ate my chicken nuggets. wife came by in the afternoon and we asked if anyone in the other shops knew whos dog it was. of course noone knows whos dog it is. soooo being a nice guy i take it home tonight and give it a bath and dinner. the dog is really nice and playful plus its good with strangers. no barking, snapping, growling. probably about 10 months old or so. looks like a shiba inu or something like that style dog. obviously i am going to bring it to work for the next couple weeks until we move into the new building to try to find her owner. but should i keep it if i cant find them? it basically hasnt left my side since this morning. its kinda potty trained. knows basic commands like sit, shake, come here, fetch. anyways i have the means to take car of it. but should i...thats the real question. i'll try to post a pic too

Mazdabation 05-06-2004 11:10 PM

Id keep it as the "shop dog" mascotte. Its always nice to have a dog around the shop...kinda keeps spirts up.

Eric Happy Meal 05-06-2004 11:11 PM

well, you cant post an add in the paper, because alot of people will just say its theirs. i guess just keep it at the shop, like maybe keep it somewhere where you can see it outside, so if the owners drive by or a friend of it, theyll know to tell the owner and you wont have to deal with people just claiming that its theres.

heres a pic we took at the shop today... ...having problems getting the pic to show though

Mazdabation 05-06-2004 11:18 PM

wow...its a beauty dog....**** em. just keep it at the shop like i said untill someone sees him. and if no one does, Oh well!!

apexkw 05-06-2004 11:19 PM

it has really cool blue eyes. kinda like a siberian husky

Eric Happy Meal 05-06-2004 11:22 PM

damn, but just think, what if it was a little kids dog. and now picture that you were the little kid, youd want that dog back! just remember that.

apexkw 05-06-2004 11:25 PM

lol thats the problem. if it was me i would be looking everywhere for it. thats why i am going to keep bringing it to the shop. but what if noone claims it? then what...just let it go and hope it goes into lassie mode and finds its way home? i dont want to take to the humane society. cause it will just die at the end of the month if it isnt adopted

Eric Happy Meal 05-06-2004 11:26 PM

that dog would definately be adopted within a day id say. but if no one claims by the time you move, just keep it. you know its in good hands with you, and you cant safely say the same for anyone else who would want it.

apexkw 05-06-2004 11:31 PM

we will see. as long as it doesnt **** to much in the house. i might keep it. gotta convince the wife as she likes little mini extra small dogs. anywho gotta take it outside before i go to sleep. lol at least it like riding around in my 7.

Baldy 05-07-2004 07:51 AM

Did it have a collar when you found it? Does it have any distinguishing marks? You could always put up flyers, with a general description, and have people call and tell you about any distinguishing marks for proof that they're the owner. Also, take it to a vet. It could have a chip in it, that would reveal the owner's information.

YukiRX7Aisha 05-07-2004 08:10 AM

Puppy!!!! ^______^ Keep it, keep it!

Travis R 05-07-2004 09:30 AM

Getting it checked for a chip is a good idea. If the dog knows commands and is really friendly then it obviously had an owner that cared about it. I would make an honest effort to find them.

If nobody claims it then it's yours.

Good luck

treceb 05-07-2004 09:40 AM

yeah i was gonna say bout the chip. both our dogs have em. it is a very nice dog, as all shiba inu, if thats what it is, it looks kinda mixed though.

racerxtreme7 05-07-2004 09:59 AM

that dog is soooooooooo cute,,,i mean nice dog man https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blush.png

Jims5543 05-07-2004 10:41 AM

Does your state do the microchip ID in the neck thingy??

If so, go to a Vet and see if it has one, it will tell you who owns the dog and where they live.

apexkw 05-07-2004 12:51 PM

my state is your state. i am going to take it to a vet this weekend. i drove around in neighborhoods today a little on my way around town looking for flyers but nothing yet. it had a collar but no tags and everyone believes that it is a lost dog. problem is the area i am in is huge. trying to find its owner is going to be difficult. i have a call into the pound also...so if they call there they can get my number. also after we gave it a bath the dog looks and acts a thousand times better. i guess a full stomach and a safe place to eat is a good thing

Cheers! 05-07-2004 07:06 PM

he/she (it) is cool.

How big of a dog is she/he

Eric Happy Meal 05-07-2004 07:21 PM

well, you can see a shoe there for perspective.

rfreeman27 05-07-2004 07:57 PM

Just keep her if nothing turns up soon (flyers or vchip). Sounds like she is happy with you, and you will take care of it...

Judge Ito 05-07-2004 07:59 PM

Cool story. If your ready for the responsibility of a dog I would say keep him. One time my wife stumbled across a tiny malnourished Pit bull(I love pit bulls) that was blocking the road, she pick him up, brought him over to my shop. I feed him and got his health back up to date. I stay with him for the shop and decided to call him "RoadBlock" Roadblock turn out to be an awesome buddy...

freaky-lil-raver 05-07-2004 08:09 PM

beautiful dog u have found...I say if the owner really wants it they will search far and wide... I know I would, so if noone turns up keep it... and if u don't keep it I will be happy to!! lol... I want a dog or 2 so bad, but wouldn't confine it to an apartment...good thing is, I am moving into a house in 3 months, with a fenced in yard!! I will be getting a dog or 2 very soon after I move...https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Rob x-7 05-07-2004 09:33 PM

no animal shelters by your house that you can report the dog

to?

apexkw 05-07-2004 11:57 PM

Cheers! 05-08-2004 03:02 PM

damn! that was a cool dog.

Rob x-7 05-10-2004 07:42 AM

last time I found a dog I called the local police and animal shelters

for a 30 mile radius, held onto the dog though, didnt want it in

a shelter. After a week I gave it to my little cousin, he had that dog

for over 10 years, it was a full breed beagle puppy when I found

him.

2 weeks later a woman called me saying it was her dog, I told her

the story and she said "thats good, the puppy was too much for me

and my 2 kids", im guessing that guilt finally hit in and she was

wondering where the dog was. How does someone buy a dog and

just let it go?

my gf found a pure bred pit bull puppy, same story- gave it to one

of my coworkers at the time and his kids love the dog

she is a sweetheart of a dog
