I got to go on my first motorcycle ride today. I've been waiting for this for over 11 years. It was great, me and my dad rode for about 2 hours, got to go through twisties, and I almost died three times. Riding my own bike is so much funner than riding on the back of my dad's.

Yea for sure, there's no comparison. Did you take take the safety course? Definetely recommend it. I rode for 9 years before I took the course and still had a good time at it.

Congrats! And get used to people telling you how dangerous a vehicle is that they've never even driven.

And take the safety course, you'll learn good stuff. And get a break on your insurance.

HA HA yea that is pretty true, although to which I usually reply I have been riding for 12 years and there was a time I rode in rain, snow and ice....

I took the safety course last summer. Then about a week after I finished, I got my endorsement. I then came home and decided to take my bike out for a ride. Long story short I gave it too much throttle trying to get going from a stop and wheelied, then fell off the back and pulled the bike down with me. It landed literally about 4 inches from my face. So i spent all last summer fixing it. Got everything except the speedo and the tach. working so now I'm out riding again. And I'll definitely respect the bike a lot more now.

I love my bike. Congrats on getting your fixed.

EMTs call them donor-cycles for a good reason.

You are a donor I hope.

Just don't go riding with your buddies until you have your **** together. The male ego will get you into trouble much faster than you may realize.

When you're on you bike you need to be on a whole 'nother level of awareness, regarding traffic. Assume that every person waiting to pull out does not see you. When stopping hard in traffic always leave yourself an out and watch your mirrors for the guy behind you getting stopped. I have blown off turns on occasion because I felt the guy behind me had his head directly up his ass and I didn't trust him to get stopped. One rear-ender on a bike is enough for me.

Keep the shiny side up. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
