after spending 22 hours out of the last 26 hours on my final design report, and 49 hours in the past week, our project is done.

my group of four has comletely designed the suspension for a formula race car, with 270 pages of conceptual designs, detailed designs, and appendecies full of calculation and 2-D drawings to prove it.

the report could not be contained with one binding, so we split it up into two volumes. it's over, and so is the semester.

next semester, build build and race our senior design project...and win the competition

good work!

1000+ hrs for our team of 4. the other 4 teams (chassis, engine & controls, drivetrain, and CCC), have done hours of work also.

and what's the best thing to do when the semester is over?

DRINKIN, and lots of it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/beerchug.gif

Way to go! I just finished a project for ME101 and probably dumped 50 hours in it. No reports or calculations, just a competition to build a robot to move four blocks into place on a board. So I slightly know how it feels to get if off your back when it's over. Good job!

Did you compare different suspension geometries and the resulting alignment dynamics in the report?

RX7Aggie 12-17-2003 08:22 PM

i used a suspension design program -- Mitchell WinGeo Suspension software -- to build a virtual suspension using the 3d space points, and then the program would calculate camber change rates, roll center migration, bump steer, scrub, etc.

i could then change the design by moving the roll center, virtual swing arm length, A-arm lenghts and what not.

dude either you forgot to model the drive shafts or you forgot to click view all on solid edge...

Hrm... i'll pass along these pics to the Queen's University SAE team now...
