Nvg's https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif lol normally you can't see the lights bit somehow the iPhone camera picks up uv light

Yeah, if you want to see if a remote is working, just have someone point it at you while you're looking at it through a video camera or a digital camera. The CCD's pick up the IR radiation.

It's not UV, it's IR.

I have a night vision scope/monocular I use on the water at night, it's the gen 1 or whatever. I got the opportunity to use the same style in FLIR. The vision was significantly better, however the weight in comparison to the gen 1 was significantly more. not a big deal for my purposes, but I think it would be pretty heavy for say goggles.

I will say this ours has paid for itself. We passed a guy with no nav lights and it was very cloudy, we were picking it up on radar but absolutely could not see it, hit it with the scope and sure enough there the guy was. Of course the guys with no nav lights don't have radar either.

arent you supposed to have nav lights on at night?

Baldy 12-10-2010 11:56 AM

It's illegal not to. In Florida, anyways (I'm assuming everywhere else).

Does IR cut through fog more than visible spectrum?
