and i quote "the airlines havent been doing their maintenance, but flying is safer than ever"

banzaitoyota 04-02-2008 09:24 PM

This breaking news just in: "Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead!"

Let's keep in mind that the FAA has a two fold mission their motto is "To promote commercial aviation and aviation safety" now think about that for just a sec, those two goals can't always be accomplished simultaneously, what I mean is you can't always promote aviation safety when the cost is prohibitive of promoting commercial aviation travel.

That should make the statement quoted previously make a little more sense, you can almost see them trying to accomplish both "the airlines havent been doing their maintenance, but flying is safer than ever"

What that means is "the planes are junk, but don't stop flying" both promoting safety and air travel.

it WAS on the news today!

beernakey also said "we might be in a depression but it doesnt look like it to them, because they wont be able to tell for a really long time, so it doesnt look like we're in a depression, but we might be, later"

how many years of law school does a statement like that take?

One. Because that's the first thing they teach them.

Bernanke is supposedly an expert on the first depression, I guess he's hoping to be more hands on this time around?

Whats great about space travel is that at this point in time if something goes wrong you either get incinerated and scattered accross the galaxy or make it back in one piece. Theres not really a middle man...whilst in the aviation industry you can be 1 who had survived out of 400 who didnt and have no legs or arms left.
