Yeah, that's pretty ignorant. Granted, they did have a lot of problems, but the success of the RX-7 could not have happened without Mazda working out most of the bugs in the engine design in cars like the RX-2. The success of the rotary engine is all the more remarkable when you consider that this engine was developed primarily by one small auto manufacturer.

My very first car happened to be a '73 RX-2 that had about 60k on the clock, and a new 12A courtesy of Mazda by way of a class-action lawsuit. My Dad gave the original buyer $500 for the car. I drove the piss out of that thing for five years and sold it for $425. Never needed anything except tune-ups, oil changes, and a fuel pump. Everything on the car worked, and it was sweet, except for the rust, which was pretty typical in 70's cars.

I will always love the RX-2, and msn can suck my pendulous schlong!

yeah, my fb is at 198600 on the odo and i trust it more than any other engine i've driven. like i tell everyone who asks me about the engine, as long as it's taken care of, it'll run damn near forever lol

Just pretend the article was written in 1972, they just haven't seen what Mazda has done yet.
