ok I start my comp and right off the bat there is a new search bar and some ******* casino program on my ******* computer. I run ad-ware and already over 139 new ******* things!!!!! I ran it yesterday and got 48!!! after I ran it I logged off!!! where the **** is this **** comming form???

do I need a fire wall to keep this **** out? come on some of you computer guys what do I have to do to stop this **** or at least cut it down. I'm getting so sick of this **** everytime I'm on NP I get all kinds of pop up and intrusive programs trying to implant its self...what can I do?!!! HELP!!!!!!

You need to run ad aware and spy bot. Sounds like you've got one of those "targeted traffic" spy's in your registry or something. It try's to deliver pop-ups that are similar to the page you are looking at. For example, visit ford.com they do a pop up advertising the new GM models, something like that.

If youre on broadband and you dont have a hardware firewall, youre asking for it anyways. I have a Netgear hardware firewall/router, and I never have the problems youre complaining about.

The best antivirus I have found so far is antivir (do a google search).

Its free and inobtrusive.

I was just suprised that NP was the last place I was and the next day I had 178 new items.. I ran norton..and nothing.. I will get spybot and see about a fire wall soon.

Get opera, the newer versions pop-up and spyware controls are amazing. Only use Kazzaa lite if you must use kazzaa, and if you have broadband you must get a router. I have a 4port belkin and i love it.

Ehh.. I'll just keep my firewall on maximum alert.. I do alot of clicking but I also don't have bullshit jamming my computer

If you are good with PCs you can open up the Windows directory and find the .exe file for the toolbar program, and delete it. Then you can prevent further installation of junkware by opening up the internet options pull down menu in your browser, and disabling "installation of desktop items".



My PC had a few of those, but I removed them like the tumors they were, and so far my computer has been clean and back the way it was.

I don't use kazaa anymore I switched to another..well I should say I just have a friend do it for me...the tool bar was removed with ad-ware. when my service is back up at home I'll get some of the other things suggested.
