Kelly's brother decided to "fix" her TII brakes and wheel bearings this weekend. When RD, Kelly and I inspected his work today, we hardly got into it and noticed that the new wheel studs weren't all the way into the hubs, yet the car was "ready to go". Also, one of the caliper bolts was chewed up and wouldn't go all the way back in, so instead of trying to clean up the threads in the spindle and install a new bolt, he sawed the bolt in half, ground off the remaining threads, and shoved it into there. I turned the bolt 1/4 turn with about 1in-lb of force and it fell out. He also didn't install the new bearing races with the bearings (the car has 180K on it and I assume the hubs/races are original). How the **** could anyone let their sister drive a car like that and then get pissed when she says he didn't do things right? Her parents are also on her brother's side, saying that she's just being a drama queen and everything was fine. It makes me want to smack the **** out of the whole bunch of them. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

I gladly work on family and friends cars.. because I do it right the first time.. As long as they can pay for the parts.

What I do is instruct them on how to fix their car. I never really get my hands dirty. So when something doesn't work or something else fails 2 weeks later They can fix it themselves.

even on simple stuff like oil changes, etc. when my friends are like "will you change my oil in your garage?", im like "well u can use the garage, but i'll teach you how to do it instead of doing it myself, that way you can learn self-reliance."
